30 isn’t too old and it won’t hurt you. I started at 30 as well and that was 2013. I think what’s more important is to figure out why you want to get an MBA and if you think the investment will be justified in terms of increase in pay and opportunities. BCG also pays for school if you go back for two years if I am not mistaken, always a great option without going into massive debt.
Being older pretty much guarantees you a spot, not hinders, if you meet other qualifications. B schools want your life experience moreso than those right out of undergrad. But I would agree with the other post, if you are going to spend $100k on it - is it going to get you that much further in life financially? That's question 1. Question 2 is if you desire the challenge and the accolade that much - do it! (Obviously there are more questions to consider). From my experience, and I'm about a decade older than you and got my own MBA at about 31, you are already sitting pretty based on your current employer. That alone will get you into the positions in industry where you think you may need an MBA otherwise. I doubt you need it to climb the ladder in consulting at this point for you.
OP, I’m a fellow BCG’er who went to business school at 30. I wasn’t at BCG though - I was an engineer and don’t regret going to Bschool at all. I had a lot to learn given my background. Since you already work here and have some industry experience, really think about what it is you can get out of bschool. Age doesn’t matter, but what matters is if that education is meaningful and something you need. Also, IMO, it is great to step away for 2 years, travel, network, make great friends and generally also learn a ton.
30 is definitely not too old by any means, OP. I assume you’re trying to leave consulting all together and pivot to another industry post MBA?
