At what level in you career did you start having client work in your book that you were actually proud of?

16 years in the industry. No work in my portfolio is client version. I always produce “agency version” on the side.

I try and maintain a personal rule of replacing at least one piece of client work in my portfolio every year. If there is nothing to add to my book after the end of the year or none of the work produced is an improvement from what was there before I start looking at why that is. Sometimes, that could mean looking for a new job.

That’s a good rule

mid level. but the definition of “proud of” changes for me at every level. mid it was a cool story. senior it was high craft. acd was a full campaign. cd is innovation.

I’ll let you know. Kidding. Mid-level. The honesty in the initial joke is: as soon as I make something I really like... I see something greater and get jealous, or have obsessive lingering thoughts of what would have made my work better.

I usually have 1 thing a year starting mid-level. It’s usually always the “agency version” though. Had a couple things when I was Jr but they’re obviously out now.

Mid level

4 years in.

Started around 3 years in

Year 1. But I started at a really good agency.

Help! Applying to a job and one of the only real requirement is to show how I’m “adept at understanding client needs, and designing and implementing creative solutions”. My issue is I work in risk advisory and most of our client engagements don’t actually involve implementation. We usually present our findings and recommendations and move on. What’s the best way I can tackle this? I’m coming up blank and the deadline is soon.

Does anyone have advice for working with a client with an extreme language barrier? My client is very nice but English is his second language, I don’t think he’s understanding most of what I’m saying, and he doesn’t provide any of the information I ask for. I tried to escalate this to the PM who suggest I adjust my communication style. Other than learning a second language, I’m not sure what I can do here.

I’m entry level (2020 grad). Used to work at an awesome startup before my current job in SaaS. I’ve been ramping at this co. though so I haven’t even gotten the experience yet I want on my resume. But I talked with the startup co-founder about rejoining. I was thinking part time to start, but he says there’s a high chance of a full time job for me there. Startup is 100% remote. My job at current company is client meetings and deliverables. How difficult would it be to work both at once?

Has anyone that switched from agency to in-house got insanely bored at their in-house role? I’ve been in-house now for a bit, and I feel like I’m stagnating hardcore and just falling behind on paid media things and professional development. However, I’m not sure if going back to an agency is a good idea because the lack of work life balance and culture was slowly pushing me towards alcoholism.
