Any advice from a soon to be landlord?
Toxic environments affect you even when you're aware of them and they affect all aspects of your life. In my experience, the trade-off isn't worth the impacts to your mental, emotional, and physical health.

If might be helpful to look at how much you are making per hour not per year. I would also add in any time you are commuting/traveling and any down time needed to decompress from the situation. If you have to play video games for 2 hours after work or naps on Saturday or whatever it is that keeps your from really enjoying your free time then that counts as hours and lowers your hourly rate.
You may do the math and realize it’s really not worth it.

FIRE for me is a way to ensure I make time to enjoy life, but that shouldn’t come at the cost of current happiness!!
I left a 150k consulting job last year (also in a no income state) because the hours and toll on my physical health were not worth it.
Now happily working at a startup that pays much less.
28F- I can tell you that I am appreciative of the wealth I accumulated over nearly 5 years in consulting but can’t see myself going back to kind of job again.
Tl;dr: never worth the misery. I’d rather save by downsizing my life than continue a toxic job.
If it costs your peace of mind, it is too expensive
If you're only making that salary working so many hours is it worth it? I make $90k, live comfortably and never work more than 45 hours. I COULD just take a second FT job and make double, but never would do that! I love my personal life and freedom
No amount of money is worth the toxic environment. You’ll be living to work vs. working to live. Not to mention the negative residual effects the toxic environment will take on your mental health for months, or even years to come.
More context: 26, 150k NW, no debt
Toxic work environment may kill you before you hit the top end of the estimated comp
Clarifying question: are you already working 80 hours/week and miserable at 120k, or is it when you'll be at 240k that you'll be miserable?
Good for you. Comgrats!
It gets old really fast. The mental and physical toll will eventually take from you in terms of time - to recover, seek medical attention - that $ can’t compensate for.
I won't stay in an environment I hate. I love my job. There is no reason to work somewhere you hate going to work. Life it too short to work 80 hours a week while hating it for anything less than enough money that let you quit and retire with the life style you would like in less than four years. For me that would be $ 5 million after tax dollars a year. If you work 80hrs a week and sleep 7 hours, and and spend 2 hours a day eating, exercising, and decompressing from work. That leaves you 3 hours a day to do stuff, shop, see friends, etc. (this assumes a 7 day week). You are going to burn out. Get out of there!
Was making $215k doing something I hated 24/7. Stuck it out thinking that I couldn't do any better and needed the money. Hit my breaking point and was forced to switch jobs. Now I make $250k working 9-5 doing something I love. Choose yourself!!
There’s no right or wrong answer. There are degrees of how bad a work environment is, and you won’t actually know the long term effects of what’s going on until after you leave. This is something to consider that supports you leaving there quickly
Another thing to consider that I didn’t see your original post mention is what sort of position those jobs will set you up for after. Just for example, a job paying $100k where you work 15 hours a week that pigeon holes you is not the same thing as a job that pays the same with a similar amount of work but that provides fantastic exit opportunities
No level is worth the toxicity. A lot of people end up with serious health conditions due to high stress-toxic environments. The high comp won't be worth the medical issues and bills. There's always another opportunity with similar pay/ benefits.
No amount of money is worth your mental well-being.

I would tolerate 80 hour weeks for a $400k or higher pay rate for up to 2 years, and only in my late 20’s or early 30’s. (Note: this didn’t happen, just theoretical).
Now that I’m closer to 40, my personal time and sanity is much more valuable and not worth any amount of money.
I think your answer is already clear and you’re just wanting confirmation (quality of life seems to be a core value of yours). 😉
