I'm a manager and have been lead on 20 million of booked work with full time chargeability, but I don't get sales credit, just looking for accelerated promotion to 6 where sales credits hit

7.5 million in manager revenue? That's pretty impressive still. How long have you been a manager ? What's your total YOE? I hope you're on a fast track for promotion?

What is DL? And if you sold 20 million worth of contract why won't you get any sales credit ?

I was selling projects as a consultant, but usually it’s principal level that’s expected to sell and can have reduced utilization targets as a result.

I'm a senior and I started working on sales apart from my day to day. You just have to work the system. I identified some opportunities through some contacts and got permission from a partner to pursue it.

Now I try to keep my ears open. Every new handshake is a potential client. But business dev is an interest of mine, not my job. So I try to do it when it doesn't conflict with my daily responsibilities.

The best sales come from strong delivery. Which means you already are selling.

I’m 2 weeks into an account strategy associate job at Google. I’m realizing I don’t want to be in this job long term but everything but the role is great. I turned down an offer to do product strategy manager at a telecom company with less pay/not as great culture but the recruiter said it’s still an option if I’m interested. Role is what I want to do. Should I jump? I’m just scared I’ll be stuck in account management forever but everything about G is great sans role. Also terrified of blacklist

A question for the more mature sales professionals - Has anyone here taken a significant amount of time (20+ years) off, or spent it in a different type of role altogether, and then tried to come back into sales? Is it like riding a bicycle, or has it changed so much that you’d have to essentially relearn what you’re doing?
