At what point after becoming licensed do recruiters start calling? I hit the one year mark and had three call me the same day. And what is their goal? Are they collecting names or are they doing quality control for law firms? How much should I trust that they can propel me upwards?

I think it depends on how “hot” the market is for your practice area. I started getting calls from legal recruiters within 6-9 months of getting licensed. Generally, their goal is to place you somewhere new so they get a commission from that firm. They’ll try to get on your radar young so, even if you don’t want to leave now, you’ll go to them if you ever want to move to a new firm. Some recruiters are better than others. I had a great relationship with the recruiter I used when I was relocating & she was very focused on getting me into the “right” role. However, I’ve also had plenty of recruiters try to convince me to apply to any and every role available, just to see if something would stick. Recruiters can be a great resource, but only you can decide what roles will propel you “upward”.

Hi Fishes,
I've reffred at Siemens by friends abs post that I got link from where I've applied within receipt of the link and now front past week application on my behalf I can see that it is with recruiters from last week I've not any call or email post that.
Whom shoud I connect or just wait for few more days?

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

Advice needed: We are in contract to purchase a house that we discovered shortly after signing the contract is 1,000 square feet smaller than what was advertised at the open house, Zillow and the MLS. We believe we are being ripped off and no longer want the house at this significantly smaller square footage without some sort of fair price adjustment. Any tips? Anyone else been through something like this? Jurisdiction is New York, contract is standard form real estate contract.

I am considering switching practice areas. I currently practice in personal injury litigation on the defense side. I have been in the PI practice in some way, shape or form for the last 9 years. However, I think it’s time for a change for me. I have always found trust and estate work to be interesting and would like to transition into that area of practice, on both the litigation and planning end of it. I am looking for guidance as to how to switch over. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not to mention the fees are over a thousand dollars.
