Did this. Completed the product, but ran out of money and had to get a job after 10 months. Burned through like $30k in savings. Could’ve been a bit more frugal and partied a bit less. Save —> keep your overhead low —> stay focused —> Partner with (or be) someone who can SELL, whether it’s to investors or customers. Godspeed.

How much personal runway do you have? What’s the true downside risk of leaving? For most ppl in professional services who went to good schools, the financial risks are basically little to none—they can always find a job. The *real* risk is regretting down the line they didn’t make the bold move sooner. Very hard to build anything meaningful while working full time on a demanding job, IMO. Most ppl doing this “side thing” never seem to get anywhere, or take years to build anything and then lose market timing. That’s a pity, bc startups are all about market teaming.

I don’t know any entrepreneur who succeeded sailing on two boats. I think the moment will come when you reach a point where you would have invested into your venture beyond 5 or 8 times your monthly income. Keep at it and be wise and study market.

I have about 15 years of experience (all in HC PR) and at various times in my career have tried to pivot to other types. I am really interested in straight corporate communications for a company other than HC. I work in-house in at a large healthcare company that is heavily involved in the pandemic where I have a half corporate comms /half product role. How can I pivot without taking too much of a financial hit.

AITA ?Told my recruiter in March ,I'm contracting but the benefits aren't cutting it. Could you ask the client if they can consider a contract to hire after 6 months instead of a year ? Client says - not right now , but we want you to stay and offer me paid company holidays and ask me in March to stay till at least my co worker goes and comes back fron Maternity leave in June. I said ok. Fast forward, I got an amazing offer from D , put in my 2 week notice tod ,the recruiter is now mad at me .

Hi fellow moms! I came back from maternity leave 3 months ago, at 50% and decided to make the move to the industry. Something I had in mind for a long time and started seriously to search. Some moms said I should wait 6months before making this sort of decision. Any thoughts? Motherhood and new job is a bad combo?
