Going through the process with Cap One for a senior business analytics role. What does that compensation package look like? Thanks!
Would you take a slight pay cut to make a horizontal move to a more interesting industry and better location? I recently decided to make a move that was an 8% cut but I’m excited about the role and better WLB.
How do people clean their homes when in a consulting career? I feel like I work long days and then clean. By then it's time to go to bed and repeat. Considering hiring a cleaning service.
Trying to decide between two portfolio ops roles, both in the Bay Area: Small-ish VC firm, ~135k base + 35k bonus Medium PE firm, ~115k base + 115k bonus Which would you choose? I’m leaning towards the PE firm bc it’s more hands-on, faster learning curve, and higher TC, but the VC role seems to have a better WLB and generally sounds cooler (getting exposed to VC vs continuing in the corporate world). What do you think?
Hi bowls, I need a referral in Deloitte/Pwc/EY . Please connect with me who can put my referral. Thanks in Advance
Received an offer for a strategy manager position at a large media company for 135k + 15% bonus. Does this sound right? I have 3 YOE.
Hi!! Has anyone here interviewed for an AWS role? I’ve linked the role below. My dad is interviewing for this role and I would love to give him some tips on how to suceed. He’s super excited! I’m less technical and he’s an immigrant so want to help him prepare the best I can! Any advice on interviewing at Amazon in general/this role would be helpful! Is it appropriate to message a recruiter (at Deloitte on Skype) on about a full time analyst position that I am interested in? Currently an intern at Deloitte
Looking for others’ take : 2 months ago I interviewed with the hiring manager for an industry job (large company) that I really want. It seemed to go well and I was told the position is open, but I was warned the hiring process can be very slow. Radio silence until about 5-6 weeks later (I didn’t follow up at all except for the thank you note), when I was asked to interview with several additional people in the department…cont’d
Do other agencies have a “no hiring people from Vayner” policy or is my inability to land a new job just because I suck?
Is it a better exit strategy to get deep technical experience or strategy experience? I was told during recruiting that 1 year here = 2 year in industry, but I’m not seeing how that trickles into tech
Interested in getting involved in more Startup opportunities. How do people find openings at early/mid stage startups? LinkedIn, or another source?
What monitor would you recommend for WFH situation assuming a IB/fund role? Know there is disagreement whether one wider monitor is better than dual smaller ones so would love to hear both perspectives. Some wider ones that have been recommended to me were Dell Ultrasharp 34 curved USB-C and Samsung Ultrawide 34
Any insight as to the DC market for litigation mid levels? Coming from out of town, but hearing the opportunities are far slimmer than a transactional role
Comp insights for the role at EY: "Advisory Services, Financial Services, Performance Improvement, Capital Markets, Senior" Location: NY, YOE: 4 Thanks in advance!
If my job might get inspected by the PCAOB this year, would it be bad to leave before it? Seniors have played a role in inspections in the past at my firm
Looking for a referral at EY or PwC. Can someone help? Currently working as SC in Deloitte USI (Supply Chain)
Program Manager now, have an Industry offer. Is it easier to transfer to Product role in Industry or should stay in Consulting, hoping to be staffed as a Product Owner.
I wasn't selected in the first lottery this year and have since moved to another company. If I was selected in the second lottery, can my current employer file the H1B petition?
What's the main diff b/w '401k Before Tax Contrib' and '401k Roth Contrib'? Currently,in my employer sponsored 401k plan, there are no 401k Roth Contrib, wanted to understand how should I balance b/w the two?
Anyone travel a ton for work? Can you share your favorite luggage for week long trips? I’m in the market to buy something new. I’m looking at Tumi, but would like to hear about what others like. I have looked at a ton of reviews online, but there’s so much luggage to choose from! I’ll be traveling for work every 3 weeks and need something I can wheel around easily. I’m five feet and 110 lb, so I can carry around a 50 lb bag. Lol
Worst city you've had a project in
Anyone in industry looking to give a referral? My experience: 10months audit, 7 months FDD, looking to transition into an FP&A role in LA. Goal salary 85+
LA vs San Diego? Can someone tell me the pros and cons of each city? I want to move to the west coast in the next year or so and debating between the two cities. San Diego looks like a beautiful city but seems to lack diversity from what I heard. Some background on me: late 20s, I’m black & latina, single, I have a puppy, I’m from NY but currently live in Boston, vegan, pretty active, people person but also enjoy a good amount of time to myself. Thanks in advance!
Anyone actually keep their PHR active? I got my cert in 2013 and have done nothing since.
So I had an interview last Friday for a contract to hire role that I thought went really well. So up until today there wasn’t a peep from the recruiter hiring for role, so I reached out. The recruiter then asked me how comfortable I was in a fast paced environment. I responded by telling her that after working a mix of agency and client side, yes. I honestly thought the answer was pretty self explanatory. She then pushed for more details, which I provided an example of. Red flag?
Copley place Marriott is meh 😒
Potentially looking to make the switch from Audit to FDD at another B4 in LA. Currently an S1 early promo with almost 2 years of experience making $88K. What should I expect as far as comp goes and what do you think I could negotiate since the demand is so high?
Bonus going right into bitcoin am I right?
Interviewing at two companies. Company A I’m already at the Partner interview next week. Company B first interview is next week. Problem is company B is totally my preference. I feel confident I’d get it but I can’t be 100% sure. What have you guys done in scenarios where you have multiple offers landing at staggered times? I don’t want to resign for a competitor only to join a different firm in the end - feels like it makes me look confused and unreliable.
Baby sitting friend’s 5 year old and today she has 99 fever. She is going to see a friend on Saturday and told me she will get a COVID test before that. In her words, ‘I am going to get tested because if I have COVID I can pass it to my friend and the friend will meet so many people and she can pass into them and then all those people will meet other people and spread to them and then COVID will spread everywhere.’ I don’t know where little lady learnt it from but this was impressive.
Vax question: my state is finally letting me get the vax. I am hoping to do it this weekend (J&J). The problem is I have to fly into Chicago next weekend and will be required to take a COVID test before I arrive as I won’t have the 2 weeks to be “fully vaccinated”. Will the J&J vax cause a false positive on my COVID test? I don’t think it will, as it is a viral vector vax and not a weakened version of the virus, but maybe there is someone on this app who knows the real answer.
I have a dilemma: If you had 2.5 years as a recruiter, mixture of agency and corporate, what which opportunity would you choose? Option 1: RPO for a major corporate chain. (Light labor, service industry) Title is senior recruiter -65k a year but is onsite 4 days a week Option 2: inhouse with a growing software educational company in tech. 70k a year as a talent acquisition specialist. Perm remote Option 3: 5 month temp opportunity with the municipal government - remote at 82-90k
So I have completely lost interest in my area of practice mainly because I haven’t been exposed to many matters (our team is really slow) and I am the most junior in the team. So billable work is never constant. I feel like this has impacted my interest and stagnated my growth. I am thinking of moving into a different area of practice like TMT or PE, that I’m interested in. Has anyone ever done this? I’m actually depressed and I really hate being given work now. I have ADHD. Please advise
What's the harshest thing your Buyer has ever said to you? Ex: Buyer emailed my colleague "instead of sharing photos of our empty shelves why don't you spend your time getting us more product"
I'm an engineer w/ BS/MS, have had engineer, PM and Tech Sales roles. I am interested in consulting and would love to speak more with some current employees about a referral! I am curious about the different job functions available. I've taken the GMAT as well to apply to MBA programs, unsure about how important bschool is in order to break into consulting.
