Saw a job posting for a new dept in a company I want to work for-I am shallowly acquainted with the owner from 15yrs ago and we have messaged each other 2x on LinkedIn over the years. He is a multi billionaire. I am thinking about reaching out to him to ask about the department with the intent to be considered for hire.
Would you consider it rude or impertinent for someone with that shallow of a connection to you to reach out to talk about working for you? I'm unsure if there are SES issues.

I was asked to get access to a system for another project and then turns out I didn’t need to. They followed up if I ever got access and I saididn’t bc I wasn’t needed and it required additional escalation I couldn’t prioritize until today bc the deliverable was submitted yesterday. I feel like I’m always behind and my managers don’t realize how long the tasks take me to do

My conundrum is being at GT for next 2-3 years and benefiting from convenience of location in midtown and lower monthly costs than paying rent... Or pick an area still on the edge of gentrification that might make for a better investment. I don't have the discipline to own a house at this time.
Always buy a house if you can. Only land value appreciates overtime. If you're coming in as an investor, Rather than investing $500k on a condo, I'd buy a townhouse slightly outside of midtown/buckhead and do some projects to increase the property value.
It's getting more expensive every day.
