Can’t wait for them to mansplain motherhood.
The other two agencies each brought four middle aged white guys. How and why does this keep happening?
All vaginaless?
they’re all guys.......
Ugh, it’s so arrogant to think that they don’t need a woman’s POV. Even if they’re that blind, why wouldn’t they consider the OPTICS of walking in with a gaggle of dudes??
I once worked for an agency that did a huge campaign for a non female directed product (but, wait for it...). They were very proud of this creative and built a multi platform campaign around it. I can’t give too many specifics because it’ll give away the agency and my identity...
Anyway, the heads of the agency (two older male creatives) were so proud that they called an all agency meeting to share the work. The tone of the campaign was that women are crazy and unpredictable, especially once a month 😳. So please (you poor, put upon men) use this product to help you manage the craziness. I shit you not. It featured images of haggard looking dudes as the “before”...you get the drift.
The crowd went wild! Cheer, laughter, congratulations all around. Mostly...I happened to be standing next to two other women while the presentation was going on and all three of us said simultaneously “Oh Shit...” because we knew this would not be good. I looked over at the other two women and saw on their faces what must have been on mine: sheet horror.
Cut to 24 hours after the launch of this groundbreaking campaign, where the clients and agency have to issue a public apology and pull down all of the work. Huge PR nightmare. Later, I asked the account lead if there had been any women on the team (as there were definitely female creatives and account people at this agency). This account lead, a man (natch) said no, with a look like “Don’t start...” 😂. No, no women in the room. Not one. Just a bunch of guys congratulating themselves on how clever they were.
And this is why diversity matters. If nothing else, it avoids unnecessary embarrassment.
Hope your team wins the business !
All of them were dudes?
👆🏼 a mix. The internal CD is a guy, the marketing clients are women. They noticed, I’m sure.
@SR1 - not all women have vaginas. Please consider your words more carefully next time.
Nailed it! You all nailed it before I finished posting. I guess I am naive to think things are changing.
🤦♀️ over this shit
OP Everyone brought their kids with them to the meeting to make them appear more relatable?
Bro Club??
@sapient1 genitalia doesn’t make or make you not a woman, you need to do some work educating yourself before you try to make jokes
An all-men team to work on a product for women...makes me think of an episode of Mad men, only it takes place in the 60s!
Were the clients women??
