I’m a core audit sr manager and helped run the tax audit of a fortune 50 client with my tax colleagues. Learned more in 3 months about taxes than I had in the last 9 years. If you leave it solely to tax people to run the audit it’s bound to be a bit of a cluster because by definition they don’t audit all day, but if you can work together both parties can learn a ton in a short time. One of the best areas I’ve spent time on in my career because it’s hard to get exposure otherwise

Core Manager who oversaw taxes on a multi-billion revenue client. Although getting better, our tax teams are brilliant with the technical aspects of tax and struggle with the auditing standards. We moved to a model on our team, where the audit team does everything except the more complex tax areas...works better for everyone

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance.
I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members.
Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

Investors should be skeptical of history-based models. Constructed by a nerdy-sounding priesthood using esoteric terms such as beta, gamma, sigma and the like, these models tend to look impressive. Too often, though, investors forget to examine the assumptions behind the models. Beware of geeks bearing formulas.

If you’re managing an engagement and something out of scope comes up and you ask someone on the team to help with it and they say they can’t get to it until X day because they’re busy with other engagements but it can’t wait until that day what is your response? A. Tell them they need to fit it in and get it done in this timeframe; or B. Try to find someone else to help who has no background on the engagement; or C. Do it yourself even though it’s really a senior/staff level task. Cont below…

PA for the most part is a sink or swim environment for new joiners. They don’t tend to get the coaching they need generally, and the cycle repeats when the new joiners who ‘survive’ become the seniors/acting seniors/managers and think ‘no one did this for me’. Or when there’s a new joiner who starts off with a toxic supervisor, and then they adopt that senior’s bad habits.

Why are accountants and government officials saying health care workers should be mandated to get vaccines? A large percentage of health care workers do not want the vaccine and unfortunately once the vaccine is mandated this data will be gone, but as of today NY Healthcare workers are only about 30 percent vaccinated. The vaccine has been out for a year, they could've gotten it by now. So are we saying the nurses who were heroes last year are no longer heroes? Do we really think we know more?🤦

Need some advice. I just accepted a new position that starts later this summer at the beginning of July. Earlier this year I was approved for 2 weeks PTO at the end of June/early July (getting married). Where I'm at now they do not have unlimited PTO, so there is nothing they owe me when I leave. What would be the best way to handle putting in my 2 weeks notice if I want to try and still get paid my PTO before I leave?
