Back when we travelled to clients, I had no issues chit chatting with folks from other firms on the client site: ACN, KPMG, ZS, Slalom, Clearview, PwC, IQVIA. However, I never had any luck starting chit chat with folks from Deloitte, they ignore me for the most part. Always seemed to be too busy working on very important problems. This is a sample size of 4 clients. What are the most friendly firms you've interacted with onsite?

When travel was a thing, at the airport before my flight, I usually did expenses/timesheets, deck formatting and other mundane tasks because that seemed like the only time to get it done, time consuming but mostly mindless work, so i free up some time on my fridays.

OP I would chit chat with you:)

Not even sure how you end up chit chatting with the entire consulting industry on client side lmao - bad optics

How is it bad optics? Clients hired all of us, we'd see each other in the hotels, at the client site, often on different streams on the same project. I had / have projects initiated by McK and Bain and know people there. I know this will shock you, but all completion decks aren't clear, I've reached out to people in other firms when it would help the client. No need to point out to the client they didn't understand something. Don't you sometimes know people that hopped to other firms? Do you ignore them if you see them?

smart

I’ve had a similar experience with D. folks.

Is MBB (mostly thinking about McKinsey) really that bad in terms of WLB? I feel like people tend to exaggerate things sometimes - i was told i'd be working approximately 65h at Deloitte in Tech Strategy and honestly that barely ever happened. I wasn't considering switching since I love my job and my team, but many people are telling me I shouldn't "waste" my potential at Deloitte (whatever that means...). They kind of got to me and now i'm looking for more info about the culture/work at MBB.

I'm trying to buy a new carry-on size suitcase but am having trouble finding one that fits my requirements. Does anybody know a four wheel spinner bag that's: 1: decent quality build, particularly wheels and handle 2: has a lid that opens and one large compartment (soft or hardside but I don't like the two half clamshell hardsides) 3: looks decent (doesn't have to be fancy/designer, just something I'm not embarrassed to take to a client office) 4: under ~$300

Let’s pretend we’re holding companies. I’ll start: No, we can’t hire an extra writer even though you’re clocking 70+ hours a week. BTW, our contract with your client caps billable hours per employee because they know we don’t pay overtime. Here’s a non-billable code you should start using for the rest of the year.

Hey fishes. I've recently moved to a new project where people aren't friendly. I know we're paid to work and not all colleagues are friendly. But, somehow I just feel very bored here.
