Depends on the project-- every state has different rules and some projects (mine) don't let you bill so I was planning on taking PTO for the month

Double check that. The rules I read when I was about to go LTT was 1 month if billing at another client location, or 2 months if not billing (including PTO)

...so not that it matters I guess but South Africa / Namibia is pretty dope.

I second South Africa. Cape Town to Port Elizabeth on the garden route with stops at Stellenbosch, Knysna, and Jeffereys Bay

Cape Town is probably the coolest African city I've been to. And driving distance to game farms. It's not "real Africa", tho. Kenya and Uganda are both insane. Lake Baringo in Kenya is one of the coolest places I've ever been/traveled to. Or you could white water rafting on the Nile in Jinja, Uganda.

Well Africa is a continent. Other than that... It's preferred to mention the country when distinguishing a travel destination. #imjustsaying

Seriously thinking of taking a 6 mo sabbatical and getting away from it all for a while next year. Potentially travel around the world in Q3 / Q4 presuming the pandemic situation has improved. Single and kids are in college so no day to day family responsibilities. Anyone done something similar? Would love to hear your experiences. I know it will set me back from making Partner by at least 1 year but who cares? I feel like it will be a life changing experience (traveling around the world part).

For those who have started traveling again... I recently started flying for work and am noticing increased discrimination on Delta Airlines. As a brown person have experienced that in the past, but lately it’s blatant. I’m a diamond and a million miler however, I see more and more out of turn upgrades. Have you experienced and what dis you do about it?

Recruiting for a Corporate Strategy role (individual contributor) for a non-profit focused on the Accounting & Finance professions.

Role is fully remote (no travel), incredible WLB (seriously), and comp is $85-$110K (all base, no bonus), depending on experience, which for this role, we are targeting 2-6 years of consulting, strategy, or other similar experience. This should be considered a pre-MBA role.

Question for fellow attorneys:

I applied to a credit card with Chase a few months ago and within 7 days I was told it was rejected and they would send a letter explaining why.

Chase has recently calling to say it expired (they said it wasn’t rejected but I was told on the recorded line that it was).

Isn’t this against the law (fair credit reporting act)?. I’m not a lawyer so I’d love to hear your thoughts

My wife got a job that requires us to relocate to San Diego. We have never lived there and know little about the city. We are planning to rent. We stayed in a hotel in little Italy and really loved the vibe there, but it’s too expensive for us. Are there other neighborhoods with similar vibes - restaurants, bars, lively, good for walking, clean, safe, young, diverse and accessible that are more affordable? Please share recommendations. Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.
