Consulting or advisory? Seems kinda low either way for SC, but if unemployed it’s better than nothing

It’s under Audit & Assurance. Same sentiment, trying to figure how high to negotiate.

What is a level 2 senior consultant? All of this sounds odd (the salary range is far out of line with normal SC salaries so I think there's something missing here). What's your YOE? Is this for GPS or Commercial? What operating portfolio?

There are three salary bands within SC: level 1, 2, and 3. After that is Manager. I have 5 years experience (3 in EHS and 2 in environmental engineering consulting). Commercial as far as I know. Not sure of operating portfolio. I got a verbal offer Wednesday, then Friday the recruiter and I had a call where he asked me my salary expectations. He said he “had to put a number down” to send to the team to approve, then that would be in the offer letter I should be receiving tomorrow. Since he said average is $75-90k, I said put $90k for now and we can go from there. Trying to figure how high to negotiate salary. Level 2 is set and isn’t negotiable.

Lol that is not a level 2 SC. Even GPS analysts are making 90K. Is this in consulting? Thanks for educating me though, I've only worked here 15 years :)

Ah I see it's in audit/assurance. I can't speak to those salaries, they tend to be very different than consulting (still seems low!)

Hot take: consultants at MBB have big egos and seem to promote the idea that they're the "best of the best" not realizing that, in 2021, the "best of the best" works in "tech" typically as engineers and consultants are actually just overworked also rans with oversized egos.

Are we considered doing well at 30s if my husband and I make $500K in total before tax in California? Context: We're at early 30s without kids. We make $500K annually. We thought it's a good salary and was proud of ourselves, but we can't afford a single family, can't afford living near the office (and the office is not even in the city). My "friend" casually said $200K in California at 30s is not considered successful in career, which kinda hurt me. Want to ask the group..
