Have been both AA Executive Platinum and United 1K, always felt that EP went further than 1K. I also think United has the rudest FAs.
United has the better network/partnerships and redemption value imho, and their top tier status (Global Services) is better than AA's (Concierge Key)
@D4, agree, I'm UA as well :) Just saying LatAm :P
Go with southwest and get yourself a companion pass
Where do you go?
Can you use American for international?
AA
If you're going to be 1K/EP or less, and don't have a preference for any of the other hub cities (e.g. family or friends live there) then you're about equal doing either.
AA, I switched from United, never going back
United. More non-stop destinations. I refuse to make a connection!
Anytime AA
Ew AA is for broke bois go with United, especially if you ever get to that Global Services level you will have made it in life. Plus United HQ Hub is Chicago
United. Have miles with both and it's so f-ing difficult using AA miles.
Don’t forget about the global network - United is in Star Alliance, which dominates routes compared to AA’s Oneworld (not even close).
Depends where in the world though... Oneworld
Is way better in South America via LatAm.
BCG1: fair, but Star Alliance dominates Asia, Europe, and MEA (think Egypt Air, Ethiopian, South African Airways, etc.) so from an overall global perspective ...
@BCG1: hehe, I’ve yet to travel to LatAm - will probably be all about OW once it’s time :p
United is not as terrible as AA but both still awful — it’s more of a hub for UA but more importantly many Star Alliance airlines have good flights out of ORD
I prefer United
United..
