Kern County, California. Hospice. Staffing is OK currently, but management is trying to push RNs to see more patients in a day than can safely be seen & documented on. Turnover has been high in the recent past, and is about to be high again if they force their hand. Annual pay increase was less than half of inflation rate. Our CEO cried and shouted at nurses during the most recent meeting, saying we aren’t doing enough and totally ignoring all the time-consuming case management stuff we have to complete in addition to seeing patients daily and documenting on all that. So all in all, not a great look for the company at the moment.
Literally nothing, it's like they don't care about us burning out...it's frustrating to see
It’s same with us. And yet they struggle with staffing like that’s not expected when there’s no action plan. Not even extra shift incentives. I’m at a lost. People are quitting and no one’s wants to work extra. We’ll I wouldn’t either. It is already challenging as it is.
I hear there are some nurses still sitting on the sideline that may be able to help ease the shortage…
Our facility doesn't need to do anything. they know they won't be losing staffs even if we're unhappy because they are aware that we need a job more than ever.
Same here. Work hospice in Michigan. Pushing unsafe staffing levels, more see more patients, hiring freeze d/t budget. Getting yelled at by mgmt when you complain. Several nurses making noises abt leaving (myself included) then they back off for awhile (as if they think you will forget abt safe staffing levels…??). The only thing I can think of is leave, maybe they will look at turnover costs and realize safe staffing and retention budgets are a good thing …
