BCG requires a consultants to rent rooms in the same building as the office. This facilitates the sleepover college dorm feel that our clients love and our recruits demand. The pillow fight DDs are magical!
^BCG1 is correct. Heard of Central Time Zone BCGers actually living on the West Coast and East Coast. Just be sure you can afford to make the "local" cases work.
Coming to the office is a super important part of BCG’s culture, I’m in a smaller office so can’t speak to Boston specifically but would be frowned upon if I never came in
Close enough that you can afford travel to the office when you draw a local case and for every training
Agree with BCG3. Would be weird if you were never in the offices on Friday
I’ve only traveled 15 days this year and average 1 night/week in a hotel over last 3 years. Not the norm and I steer it that way, but could be a costly gamble for you. Also, M-Th is probably the model for 50% of travel in NE and GL. Lots of M-W and T-Th too
Agree WFH and never coming in on Friday would be weird, but also not likely with the need to come in every few weeks for feedback or an office event.
Experience definitely seems better for everyone if living local, but not everyone can do that in the short term. The people I mentioned had immobile SOs on coasts.
Can’t remember his big Boston office is. But if the office size is less than 100...show up, otherwise they will notice. If it is 100+ like NY or SF, good to go network and catch up but other than your friends no one will notice.
How often do local cases happen? Is there some defined rule like 90 minutes or so? In my 5 years with Accenture, I've never had a local project and been in the office twice.
Wouldn’t you want to be somewhat close to the airport though?
