A well known agency. Never been treated so horribly in all my life. And now my current employer is shopping around for an agency and has considered my old agency. They are bringing them in to begin interviews and see if they’d like to have them pitch. And they want me at the forefront of it. I’m not one for petty revenge in the professional world but GOT DAMN do I feel vindicated right now

That was the first piece of advice I was given as an intern by a fantastic boss: Be careful who you piss off on the way up, cause you’ll see them on the way back down. I’ve seen Karma smack a half dozen of my haters recently. And, like you said, I’m not one for petty revenge .... but damn some of them felt great

like

@ExecutiveDirector1 I did not say I was picking the agency, I am just asked to be a part of the group in the interviews. If they DO happen to pick them, sucks for them. I dont go for revenge in the work world either. But man, the look on those people’s faces will be priceless when they realize who is sitting in front of them. I believe in karma. And im not about to create my own bad karma. I just want to see the fear and “oh shit” on their faces

It’s about picking the right agency to help the company that employs you succeed not your personal vendetta

Yes, their leadership is a reflection of how they treat the whole team. Would never want an agency whose team spends time bickering with ongoing frustrations vs solving my brand’s problem. Good riddance.

I have gotten sweet sweet revenge a number of times without the people affected even knowing I was behind it. Which makes it all the better. Mean unscrupulous people deserve it

It’ll be fun, once they see your name on the list of attendees they will decide who will reach out to you as if this is a good thing. All busy-buddy and smiles. They’ll think you reco’d them. Hahahaha. I wish I were you.

My experience was an AD that was a real dick. Totally thought his unproducable and pointless (as in “why would anyone tweet to enter, watch this video, sign up, or show up or care” type holes in the concept) ideas were masterpieces held back by the rest of our sheer stupidity, and would rage when told that something was just not in budget Or timeline (like: no, we cannot create a custom car with lasers that levitates over the 100 foot long piñata in 3 weeks for total 50k including agency travel). I was at wits end when he announced his new job. I loved, loved, loved the look on his face when I said casually within earshot, “oh, a good friend is the CD there, I’ll have to give them a call.”

Why? Person was rude, aggressive, disrespectful and not well liked and I know his new senior colleague, why would you think I wouldn’t give a heads up? You think that reputation shouldn’t be shared? Or just a bad one? I also looked at his book and it was full of so much fakery and overstatement of his role in things. The secretive nature of our job hunts lets people hide things and I wish more people asked around about people before hiring them.

like

I am sure it feels good. But please think about all the people who don’t know your history that would be slaving away on this pitch giving up their precious personal time not knowing they had no chance from the start. I do hope you do the honorable and professional thing.

Guarantee this agency will know they are doomed the second they see OP’s face. It’s highly unlikely they will make it past the chemistry check.

I live by this. Had a contract junior ux designer undermining me and playing games. Got my revenge after I quit our failing company. Not only did she get double the work, they didn’t promote her, didn’t give her a raise, nor full- time. 😂😂😂 She was texting me for months afterwards on how much things sucked, asking me how my new job was going. I could have helped her, but she broke that sacred rule. Karma is real.

i believe this also goes for the higher ups that undermine and disrespect and/or are trigger-happy with firing people as a “solution” to their problems. worked at a place that fired 1-2 people every month (some of those people only had been hired 30 days prior). i’m not in a large city and word-of-mouth gets around FAST. everyone who has left that company has advised their new companies to avoid our old agency. eventually i hope it catches up to them, if it hasn’t already happened. they’ve lost some big clients but are really great at making promises to obtain new, unsuspecting local clients.

This entire thread is an example of why advertising will never survive. Petty people and petty bullshit. It’s really sad.

Hi y’all. So I haven’t technically onboarded for my firm yet, I’m suppose to start in 3 weeks. One of the projects I’m going to be put on requested to have a little interview with people of the team so I had mine today. The “interviewer” didn’t really seem to think I was qualified for this project at the end of the conversation (agree to disagree with him on that). Regardless, am I in trouble for not fitting his criteria/selling myself enough…kinda worried on my manager’s response….

I know this has been posted before but I just need support. I’ve been back from mat leave for two months. I don’t like my job, my motivation to work is gone. I just think I hate this work. I am interviewing at other jobs but nothing is happening. I used to have so much drive to do well - even if I hated a project. Now I’m doing the minimum to just get by. I feel I need to be inspired work wise (hence, looking for a new job), but just kinda depressed and aimless.

Any tips for someone who discounts good feedback but heavily focuses on the opportunities to improve? So much that I have a fear of getting fired despite receiving overall good feedback. I started a new job earlier this year. The function of the role and industry is new to me. My manager told me he generally has higher expectations than the rest of the organization. Originally, I viewed this as a great learning opportunity but can't help to think I'm not cut out for this and fear the worst.
