Rough! It will get better. Get some pre workout and get to the gym. Take a moment to enjoy the nice weather today as well.
Only way to go is up! Keep it simple, dude, and do things that align to the best you.
1. Best Version of you
a. Physically
i. Healthy diet
ii. Strenuous exercise x3 per week
b. Mentally
i. Focus on your craft/purpose
c. Emotionally
i. Kill limiting beliefs
ii. Set the standard for how you want to be as a parent. Do not waver from that standard no matter what happens.
Be consistent and and you will rise from the ashes anew like the Phoenix! Kids will love and respect you, coffers will be replenished with assets, you'll feel great, and you'll be fighting the ladies off with a stick! 👍🏼
Should maybe focus on improving your relationship with your children
As someone who has been severely clinically depressed, I know depression when I see it in other people. And you are very depressed. High functioning people like us don't mope around and eat ice cream in bed. We go to work and perform until one day we either have a full blown panic attack that lands us in the ER or jump off the 30th floor of a hotel. Ask for a local engagement that's relatively easygoing, ask for extended pto, or quit. Your life is more than a series of slides and a false ladder created by an entity that exists solely to earn money for its partners. You owe it to yourself to get better. Tell your pcp the way you feel and he/she will point you to the psychologist / psychiatrist that can help you.
Dude, I could have written this exact post about me. I feel ya, man.
Update: I registered with a trainer here in MN and I have a job interview on Monday nearby. One positive act inspires positive reactions!
Ugh sorry OP! Start with taking care of yourself and trying to like yourself, the rest will come.
I second the #BestOfFishBowl. This has really been a great showing that there are real people who are willing to give a few moments of themselves to help a stranger. You guys are awesome
Quit consulting!!! Friends and family are so much more important than a slightly higher paycheck! On a local engagement now and my life feels so much better
I'm working on the children, one step at a time. My challenge with joining the gym has always been that I need a gym buddy. Otherwise, I'll sign up and do it for a few days, then miss a day and I'm off the wagon.
Sorry OP. Drop a burner if you need to talk! I've used virtual friends to help me through a lot of things. Bonus if you happen to be in my area. Friends can be the easiest thing to fix- and friends can help you strategize on how to mend your relationship with your kids and how to get back on top of health.
I believe in you!

Get another job maybe?
Lol why D2 why.
Just a tough patch. Time to reinvent and get your mojo back.
Start with what you can control:
-diet and exercise physically;
-positive affirmations mentally;
-schedule time with family, take classes, group activities and shared hobbies socially.
Most likely, you need to work less and possibly find a new role somewhere else. I told my wife if she ever leaves me, the first thing I'd do is quit this job. Not gonna kill myself for support and alimony. Sometimes you just gotta burn it down and start fresh.
OP im also single :) DC also 🤗
Reading this make me feel this job that we call consulting is so worthless :(
Thank you all. Really didn't expect much, this has all been great!
OP, learn to hate looking and feeling gross more than you hate the pain of deciding to go to the gym. The gym should be a "want", not a "need". You have to want it bad to motivate yourself to go after it, not need it and see it as a burden. When someone tells you that you "have" to do something, you want to punch them in the face. When someone is doing something amazing, you want to experience it to. Flip the lens and you'll be slaying yourself for fun, and the results speak for themselves!
