I’ve been out of consulting for 2 years. I went to company A (was a series E startup but has since went public). I left company A for company B about 3 month ago. I had a job I liked and it was relatively easy at company A but I felt like it wasn’t pushing me at all so I left. I started at company B (a series C startup) a couple of months ago and haven’t had a great time. I’m struggling and don’t really enjoy my team. My old boss at Company A just left and the company posted a job opening (cont)
Prior to this ive only ever done FS operations focused consulting i.e. mix of implementation & operating model development/assessment. Hours usually 830-7. Got an offer for a strategy role at a big 4. What are the average hours like? Am I going to regret this?
I just got laid off from a strategy consulting boutique in the UK that primarily works with PE funds doing CDD/VDD. It goes without saying that the market is terrible. I suspect no strategy firms are hiring and it will need to be an in-house move or if I could stretch it PE/VC. What are people’s thoughts and does anyone have any advice?
Less than a year of valuation experience but got offered valuation role in a REIT firm with 38% increase (HCOL to higher HCOL (SF)). I’m worry about being too focused in REIT/ operations real estate niche area that exit opportunities might be difficult. Thoughts?
What are some tips for interview prep? I’m looking for a senior accounting advisory position at b4. Thanks!
My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Like take care of yourself, it's ok to feel such and such, etc. I'm still newer to therapy so wondering if that's the common experience? Do you ever have moments where you're like wow that actually is eye opening and I wouldn't have gotten that from reading self help books and websites etc?
Genuine question: What are the most common exit options at Google BizOps? (1) For internal transfer to PM, those teams seem to prefer to hire Google engineers. (2) For internal transfer to Chief of Staff, why those teams don’t promote their own Strategy & Op folks? (3) For BizOps internal promotion, there are not many Director positions. (4) For leaving Google, I don’t know where people usually go… Please share your thoughts / correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!
What are red flags you try to identify about a role when interviewing and how? Feels like I'm missing flags ppl sometimes mention here but not sure how to assess indirectly.

Hi Guys, I need some help. I had joined kpmg global services recently (7 months) back from one of the IT services companies in an advisory role however now I have received an offer from HCL with 40% hike to my current CTC. What should I do. I have heard that KGS gives decent hikes and bonus payouts however the work is completely backend with limited customer interaction and limited good quality. Can someone throw some light on HCL as well, what is good and what is bad and which to choose

Health question: Does anyone else suffer from nerve pain in their butt/hips from sitting all day? My research tells me it’s piriformis pain. It means my sit bones are irritating my butt muscle, which irritates my sciatic nerve. It can be excruciating and hurt even when I stand. I bought a fancy seat cushion for my office chair, and I have a standing desk. Nothing helps. The pain has been around for about a month. Anyone else?? What did you do?
Question: I currently have a bit over $3000 worth of VTI ETF shares. Now that I’ve crossed over the $3k mutual fund minimum threshold, will this ETF begin to act as a mutual fund, where I’ll have the ability to DCA at any dollar amount instead of the full cost of the share? Does it automatically convert to VTSAX shares?
I got laid off in august and found a freelance gig a couple weeks later. If the freelance gig goes away will I qualify for unemployment? Assuming I don’t qualify right now, right? (I’m in CA)
Just joined a smaller firm who uses Paychex for their 401k provider. I noticed they do not offer too many options for funds to invest in and seems lower end than my prior Schwab 401k offered. 1) Anyone have experience with Paychex and have similar observations? 2) I’m leaning towards doing enough 401k pretax contribution on Paychex to get the company match and then do the rest as a Roth IRA to obtain better investments. Any other options I’m not thinking of?
Hi! This year I have been blessed. I made 200k from selling stocks and still has about 700k worth of shares. My family of 4 were struggling to make ends meet the past few years because California, everything is expensive including our mortgage. We are trying to organize our finances, we have 401k &got the house refinanced. I’m interested in investing in rental properties. I have read some blogs and watch some videos but would still like to hear from people some tips on investing with cash flow?
My boss loves to have every warm body possible in pitch meetings, even people who aren’t working on it. He will slack you out of the blue and expect you to drop everything to just sit there and make the team look “impressive.” Why are people like this? Don’t clients see right through it? Is it actually impressive to have 10+ people in the room if only half of them participate? 😑 it’s such a waste of everyone’s time.
Has anyone found value in the “Josh Bersin Academy” membership? They are offering 20% off an annual subscription so my interest is piqued.
Has anyone else worked at a small agency and found that their other tasks outweigh the time spent filling the role they were hired for?

We have it worse than our parents. No real pension( defined benefit plan) which pays you an amount per month til death. 401k are at risk of the market.. while ceos and partners....make millions
Does EY offer joining bonus for exp hires when extending an offer? Or should I be negotiating for that?
Why do previous generations feel the need to belittle the hard work of younger people? My parents always insist they used to put in as many hours as I do when they were my age, but I know it’s not true because I was actually old enough to remember it! (They could afford having a kid. I can’t)

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma was asked how he’d meet his future capital needs. He replied, “Mere paas Ma hain, Jack Ma” (I have Ma, Jack Ma), a reference to a famous line from the Bollywood film Deewar, in which the character says a person with a mother — Ma — has all the riches one needs https://restofworld.org/2021/chinese-investors-lose-out-in-indian-tech-ipo-boom/
