Been A1 for 6 months now and got an offer from a no name IB boutique bank. Pays around 70% higher. Should I take it and forego the big 4 brand name? I’m worried I wont be able to lateral out of the no name firm.

100% yes. You work a lot in IB but at least the pay shows it

Oh to be a first year and so naive. Nobody going from audit or tax into an actual analyst position. The other before me already said it, those people are going to be fund accountants, but the official name is analyst

Yes, 100 percent. IB space will always need analysts/associates. A fresh associate at a mid tier firm can easily make 150k plus including bonus. An associate will make 300k plus. You will get an exit. The typical path is no name - to slightly better name and then there are hundreds of PE shops as well.

Thanks for the insight. Guess I’m getting blacklisted from my current firm

You are getting a 70% raise. Take it and don't look back.

Is this a real question? Lol. Take the offer now!!!

like

Yes.

You do it, see if you like it, if you don’t at least you know and you get to pocket some $$

I have been reading a lot of comments that "rating affects only bonus".

Is this true, if yes then how will the rating 1 and 3 be differentiated wrt hike.

Insights are highly solicited.
