It's easy to create work for brands that everyone has heard of. If you can find the genius behind a bland client/project people will be singing your praises and people will want to imitate your concept.
FWIW, 80% of that is getting the right brief, the right CD to champion your idea, the right account people to sell it in, and the right client at the right time.
And that’s it isn’t it. For me, I’ve never been at the right place or right time. I always seem to have the complete opposite. And it’s ridiculous because everyone will say it’s just advertising but I start to wonder if I am just not good enough to make anything of that calibre.
You will. Hang in there.
Even if that is true, that doesn’t mean that you aren’t a good creative. There are more good creatives who have made work we’ve never heard of, than there are good creatives whose work we have.
Conversation Starter
That’s the goal. Keep at it. Been doing this for 25 years and only achieved it twice. That’s a hell of a lot less than some and more than others. You just gotta keep on trying. It’ll happen when you least expect it. It’ll feel awesome but not as awesome as you think and won’t last as long as you think. Enjoy the pursuit. Remember. What you’re looking for is rare.
