Been getting groceries and meals delivered since I’ve moved here years ago, but been wanting to do my own shopping lately in person, but I can’t get over the fact that I’d have to carry heavy bags walking subway to subway, is this really how everyone does it?

I keep my pantry stocked really well, that way I'm only buying a few fresh ingredients when I make a meal. We do 1-3 small trips throughout the week. Plus bodegas for incidentals. NYT or Smitten Kitchen have great pantry guides.

I really like this approach SAD1. Will definitely look into adopting this for myself in the upcoming weeks.

I only buy for a day or two at a time, plus any staples I'm short on. It's usually only one bag per trip and very easy to carry. I'd rather have fresh food and not have to plan my meals far in advance anyway.

A rolly cart. Game changer. I don’t care how I look, I can buy a watermelon

Buy the granny cart!

I always go to Trader Joe’s every Sunday with my granny cart. So much easier

Is there not a grocery store within walking distance??

I take a cart you see old people using!

Eat less, Uber, multiple trips,

Probably in the minority but I used to carry my groceries for a whole mile since that was the closest Trader Joe's. I still do the same after moving but only for .6 of a mile.

I didn't take the train because it would have taken the same amount of time.

You could order the heavy bulky non perishable stuff, and then go shopping yourself regularly for fresh foods and bring a large backpack or duffel bag

Smaller, fewer trips through the week

I only pick up a couple days worth of stuff at a time - 2 bags, but also have a store across the street so that helps

I’ve brought a suitcase to the grocery store before. Though now I just use delivery.

I get everything delivered from Whole Foods via Amazon.

i take a foldable cart and walk to and from the store. I do two weeks worth of shopping that way. Works for me

I get my meat delivered by ButcherBox and buy the rest as needed. I’ve never had to carry more than three bags at once and I make sure that one of my reusable bags is crossbody. If I need to pick up a lot of heavier items, I sometimes even bring a backpack.

Grocery cart... or just have a kid, then the stroller doubles as a grocery cart. 🤣

Yes..i consider it a work out session

Hi ladies! I’m a severely burnt out funeral director looking to transition to a new career opportunity. I don’t know where to start bc my career is incredibly niche and I have no clue what I can do to get ahead. I’d ideally like to get into tech but anything that isn’t emotionally heavy like funeral service would work. Has anyone gone through something similar?

Need quick (10-20 min) mid-day exercise recommendations. I don’t need to lose any weight, just really need to get my body moving and would love something that helps build some strength. The only time I can really do it with new baby and work is lunch time so it also can’t be TOO sweaty. Recommendations on videos, guides, etc to help me establish some type of daily exercise routine? TIA!

Anyone looking to rent out their studio or 1 BR place for 1-2 months from end of Dec/early Jan? Flexible on timing. Looking for Manhattan, preferably below 67th street, furnished and pretty subway accessible.

On a lot of housing posts, I see people arguing things like “at that price, you ought to just buy instead of renting” and others putting them down about how buying isn’t for everyone. Curious to hear reasons why renting vs. buying is/isn’t a good option in different scenarios

Anyone had a psychiatrist in the city for ADHD that they would recommend? Please DM me. Thanks!

Anybody got a recent reference point for cost of full-Service moving within NYC ? Planning to move from 1BR to 2BR this March.

Curious to see how much a full-service move would be (movers pack up everything, provide all packing materials, re-assemble furniture at destination)

My friends are permanently moving out of nyc and it makes me super sad and lonely. They are my best friends who I’ve known for 10+ years and I see them almost weekly and celebrate all kinds of milestones with them. I don’t know what I’ll do when they are gone. Yes I’ll find new people, but it will take time for this kind of friendship to build up. Also making friends when you are in your 30s is hard. Is anyone else going through this ?

I seriously can’t get over NYC real estate prices right now. Beautiful two bedroom co-ops are going for under 1 million 🤤
