Been getting groceries and meals delivered since I’ve moved here years ago, but been wanting to do my own shopping lately in person, but I can’t get over the fact that I’d have to carry heavy bags walking subway to subway, is this really how everyone does it?

I keep my pantry stocked really well, that way I'm only buying a few fresh ingredients when I make a meal. We do 1-3 small trips throughout the week. Plus bodegas for incidentals. NYT or Smitten Kitchen have great pantry guides.

I really like this approach SAD1. Will definitely look into adopting this for myself in the upcoming weeks.

I only buy for a day or two at a time, plus any staples I'm short on. It's usually only one bag per trip and very easy to carry. I'd rather have fresh food and not have to plan my meals far in advance anyway.

Is there not a grocery store within walking distance??

I take a cart you see old people using!

Eat less, Uber, multiple trips,

Probably in the minority but I used to carry my groceries for a whole mile since that was the closest Trader Joe's. I still do the same after moving but only for .6 of a mile.

I didn't take the train because it would have taken the same amount of time.

You could order the heavy bulky non perishable stuff, and then go shopping yourself regularly for fresh foods and bring a large backpack or duffel bag

Smaller, fewer trips through the week

I only pick up a couple days worth of stuff at a time - 2 bags, but also have a store across the street so that helps

I’ve brought a suitcase to the grocery store before. Though now I just use delivery.

I get everything delivered from Whole Foods via Amazon.

i take a foldable cart and walk to and from the store. I do two weeks worth of shopping that way. Works for me

I get my meat delivered by ButcherBox and buy the rest as needed. I’ve never had to carry more than three bags at once and I make sure that one of my reusable bags is crossbody. If I need to pick up a lot of heavier items, I sometimes even bring a backpack.

Grocery cart... or just have a kid, then the stroller doubles as a grocery cart. 🤣

We nicknamed the uppa baby Vista the urban SUV

Yes..i consider it a work out session

Hi ladies! I’m a severely burnt out funeral director looking to transition to a new career opportunity. I don’t know where to start bc my career is incredibly niche and I have no clue what I can do to get ahead. I’d ideally like to get into tech but anything that isn’t emotionally heavy like funeral service would work. Has anyone gone through something similar?
