Been in Boston for almost 2 years now. I was pulling long hours for the first 6 months on boarding and haven’t made many pre-Covid friends. My lack of a social circle here makes me want to go back to nyc. Any recommendations for someone who basically moved right before a pandemic and hasn’t made any friends yet?

When things go back to normal, sign up for a Social Boston Sports team. They have a bunch of different sports and are very causal and a great way to meet people

Agreed with the sentiments above- there’s normally a lot of happy hours and chances to hang out casually in the office, definitely come in once it’s re-opened!

If you identify as a woman, join Bumble BFF! I met my two best friends on there and I’ve been friends with them both for over 3 years.

I haven’t done it since before Covid, but I’m sure it’s the same thing!

Moving there soon we can be friends

It's really hard to meet friends in Boston if you aren't from here. Try those suggestions already made, and be prepared it's an uphill battle to get beyond limited relationships. I don't mean to be a downer, it's just generally more difficult here.

If you like fitness, there are many friendly gyms in the city. My gym is Lynx, an upscale one that is in the basement of the Park Plaza hotel. Staff and other members are very friendly - especially when they see you there all the time. Also, Boston Ski and Sports Club is a good social club and there are many running and cycling clubs in the city where you will meet up, go for a run and many people will go out for drinks or lunch afterward.

What do you like to do?

Post-COVID, look into Meetup.com and volunteering in your neighborhood. Also see if there are professional associations in your industry.

Being from here, I'll be the first to admit Boston's a tough city to move to without a network. Good luck!

Totally agree that it’s tough, feels like everyone went to school here and just has their friends from that.
Similar to sports suggested above, I would look into a recurring class- I met a bunch of great people pre-covid in a weekly improv one and I imagine there might be something out there on cooking, art or other hobbies. Having it be activity based already gives you something in common / personality type that probably vibes well, while also getting you connected with people you might not meet otherwise (different ages, careers etc) which I found refreshing.

Considering a move from a larger BigLaw firm to Fox Rothschild, primarily to work on matters I’m more interested in, but hopefully to also have a slightly better work life balance. I know it would be a pay cut though, and their various covid cuts have me concerned as well.

Any insight from current or former associates? What is firm culture like? Is work life balance decent enough to justify a lower salary?

Anybody tried Ginger or therapy through texting? Would love to know your thoughts. I can see it being neat since I tend to express my feelings and thoughts better in writing. I also tend to downplay how I really feel in person with a friend but less so when I’m texting them my feelings. But worried about the quality of therapists and my words actually being saved in my files, amongst other things.

Have been married for 15 years and have a kid of 11 years. My spouse is falsely accusing me of domestic abuse and trying to get separated. She has taken my kids passport and kept it with her. What are the options I have to defend myself?

The number of COVID cases on the rise again, folks. Wear masks and social distance! Here’s hoping the rise in number of cases is just because of increased testing, but the uptick in number of hospitalizations in not good news. This is by no means “disappearing” as the President continues to claim.

Can a company change your sales territory (increased sales area by about 30%+) without compensating you? Our company is modifying territories and most people are getting about a 5-10% increase, but mine will be over 30%. The company has eliminated some territories during this time so we are covering those. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
