When things go back to normal, sign up for a Social Boston Sports team. They have a bunch of different sports and are very causal and a great way to meet people
Agreed with the sentiments above- there’s normally a lot of happy hours and chances to hang out casually in the office, definitely come in once it’s re-opened!
If you identify as a woman, join Bumble BFF! I met my two best friends on there and I’ve been friends with them both for over 3 years.
I haven’t done it since before Covid, but I’m sure it’s the same thing!
Moving there soon we can be friends
Following because also having this issue!
It's really hard to meet friends in Boston if you aren't from here. Try those suggestions already made, and be prepared it's an uphill battle to get beyond limited relationships. I don't mean to be a downer, it's just generally more difficult here.
If you like fitness, there are many friendly gyms in the city. My gym is Lynx, an upscale one that is in the basement of the Park Plaza hotel. Staff and other members are very friendly - especially when they see you there all the time. Also, Boston Ski and Sports Club is a good social club and there are many running and cycling clubs in the city where you will meet up, go for a run and many people will go out for drinks or lunch afterward.
What do you like to do?
Post-COVID, look into Meetup.com and volunteering in your neighborhood. Also see if there are professional associations in your industry.
Being from here, I'll be the first to admit Boston's a tough city to move to without a network. Good luck!
Totally agree that it’s tough, feels like everyone went to school here and just has their friends from that.
Similar to sports suggested above, I would look into a recurring class- I met a bunch of great people pre-covid in a weekly improv one and I imagine there might be something out there on cooking, art or other hobbies. Having it be activity based already gives you something in common / personality type that probably vibes well, while also getting you connected with people you might not meet otherwise (different ages, careers etc) which I found refreshing.
I have a small social network in Boston and am
up for meeting new ppl. DM me
Same situation. I moved to Boston from NY. No friends yet, just been going back home to NY. Down to connect if anyone else is and make some friends
