Been in sales for 6+ yrs., the past 2 in SaaS sales (Salesforce + tech startup). I was laid off from my AE role with the tech startup where I was at 140k base/ 280 OTE. OTE was unrealistic as no one ever hit quota. I got no severance. I now have 2 offers. 1 w/established payroll company, but OTE is what I was making base. Other with Saas Startup w/only 2 US employees at 110k base but weird commission plan +payout. Should I just take offer w/established org even though not in SaaS and lower comp?

I’d go with the established company and lower OTE- especially if OTE is uncapped.

Highlights of the year: flew out on 12hr notice to evac E Europe-based employees & families, plugged 3 exposures before they became breaches, built TVM/privacy program from scratch, onboarded new CNAPP.

Why does no one discuss the real elephant that’s in the room? Most people hired in tech the last few years weren’t qualified. A few years of woke friends hiring woke friends lead us here. The positions that are getting laid off are mostly admin/recruiter related (jobs with transferable skills most people can do). It’s not the end of the world, people will find other jobs. Just no more made up titles making 6 figures at home watching Netflix (good thing).

Interviewed for a company today. The remuneration package $120k-$180k/year [Base + % of Commission = OTE] (50/50 spilt).

They’re asking for an expected salary, if my expected salary is $100k/year, comes out to $8.3k/month.

Based on the $180k and paymix of 50/50, that means $90k is the base salary which is lower than my expected - is this correct? If so, what should I do?
