Does anyone work in an area with lots of exterior environmental noise (traffic, concerts, trains, etc.) and have tips for not becoming overwhelmed and/or distracted by it? Have people received inflationary raises? My dad received a letter stating that they’re giving him a 6.5% raise + a one time lump sum of $750 bc of inflation, retroactive to July 1st. He works for a university and is part of a union. What can be revealed during a reference check? Are they different from background checks? I was laid off without cause during my probationary period. I've now got a written offer in Tech contingent on reference checks.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to provide references or if a third party will just call my old workplace & ask for feedback? I would love to secure this new offer, it's great, but feeling anxious about this check :(
