Yes - your work quality will suffer and you’ll burn out. Get the help you need!! No need to push through.

Thank you guys so much for all the support and advice ❤️ feels great to know that this community is so supportive and encouraging. It’s my first time verbalizing what I’m going through so definitely appreciate the support.
I think so. Just keep in mind and think about what else you’re doing to help/overcome/mitigate the effects of your anxiety because if you aren’t doing other things to help mitigate its effects, taking a break from work might help temporarily but you may be back in the same position later down the line if you don’t use coping strategies

Also, I told several people on my project that I was struggling and was pretty open about it. They were surprisingly supportive, and I got promoted despite feeling completely worthless for a good part of the year. So while it’s not pleasant, it’s actually kind of a good thing that it’s all in your head. Because once you get it worked out, things can be good again pretty quickly. Hang in there. Wishing you the best.

Thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate it and I’m so happy that things worked out for you :)
I run a smaller firm of 40+/- folks and I have encouraged folks to take a mental health day if they needed it, especially with the challenge of 100% remotely working, COVID 19 anxieties, as well as the racial and social injustice issues. We all need to be taking care of our mental health as well as physical health all the time, but especially now.

Yes you definitely should. I don't work at pwc but would think they have programs in place to help

@pwc1- I feel like this is definitely feedback that should be given to hr. If they're trying to find services that support their employees ' mental health, they (hopefully) want to know if those attempts are NOT working
Thanks for sharing. There’s therapy but it can take time to truly tame anxiety. After cancer i got it bad, couldn’t sleep and was always looping irrational thoughts of dread. I saw a psychiatrist, they take patients early and late so it doesn’t mess with your schedule and many see patients via video chat. Anxiety doesn’t mean you’re broken, the world has been upended....But there are accessible, easy treatments that have worked for decades....I take a an extremely cheap generic pill; we’re all going to have some form of ptsd from this. Anxiety is no joke, but it’s extremely common among high achievers, especially in urban areas... Good luck

So nervous to even talk about it to my manager to explain what I’m going through

@ Consultant 1: FYI – PwC has waived the 12-month employment requirement at the moment due to COVID-19
I definitely recommend a break from work. You can then focus solely on you

Yes 100%. You don’t have to tell anyone about it if you don’t want to, but if you do, they will probably understand. Anxiety has skyrocketed the past few months, so you certainly aren’t alone (and you wouldn’t have been before all of this either). There is a good chance your PCP will give you a script if you talk to them too.

By the way, OP... I’m watching Hulu and an ad just came up for TalkSpace, which is some sort of virtual counseling / therapy service. Michael Phelps is their celebrity endorsement. The ad said save $65 off your first session / order / whatever with the code MICHAEL65. Just wanted to pass along the info in case you’re interested in finding out more. 😊
I did this at the beginning of rona. I told my supervisor I was having a hard time adjusting to WFH and my supervisor put some of my projects on hold and lended me out to another dept to help with some more project management type stuff tied to a cause. It helped to have less deep thinking work and work on something that was helping. It got me more momentum to get back to normal and I'm back on my normal work now after a month or so of that. My supervisor has also been good about asking if my plate is too full and managing my workload since. If you are careful with how you disclose, it can be really great. Also excercise. If normal exercise feels hard, a long walk in the morning and at lunch helped so much when I couldn't get the energy to do my normal pre Rona workout routine.
Take a week off if you can. It'll help put things in perspective and keep you from making any decisions you wouldn't make with a clear head.

I almost had to do this back in November. Was just in a horrible place and couldn’t deal. Made it through with a two week vacation and LexaPro, but it was touch and go there for a while. Now, I’m fine and nothing situationally has really changed. Weird how the brain works.
I haven’t taken time off but started doing virtual therapy (covered by insurance) once a week and it has helped tremendously. Good luck and you are not alone.
Believe in yourself and take care of yourself
I would take it once you have a solid plan in place for how you want to begin to handle it.
If you need time to take off to figure out how to handle it then i would say mention that maybe too
I would prioritize seeking help from a mental health professional if you haven’t already- cutting back on work can help but you want to address the cause of the issue. Also make sure you’re taking time to decompress, exercise, eat well, reduce alcohol, etc. those can go a long way to settle your nervous system.
