Been told off by a partner for leaving an automatic "on vacation, reading e-mails sporadically, if urgent please call me on xxxx" reply while on vacation 😨

Heaven forbid people use the “v” word. If it’s to the point were telling people you’re OOO on vacation (so they can leave you TF alone) is some kind of work place no-no—then please find a new job. This is some kind of twisted brainwashing going on leading people to believe they should be shamed for saying they’re on vacation, or that it’s okay to chastise a grown person for using appropriate workplace communication tools.

Lol, sounds like a cool partner to work for. 🙄

Was it for having an OOO message at all, or for the actual choice of message?

I might have also left out the “on vacation” part but it’s stupid that a partner got bent out of shape over it.

like

You don’t need to explicitly that you’re reading your emails sporadically.

I just got offered a job with a firm that has billable hour requirements. I’ve never had had billable hours. Is is appropriate to ask what the billable requirements are? I have a good idea from someone I know who works in a different department but want to confirm what they told me. They also provided vacation time of 3-5 weeks. I’m assuming that’s work weeks, but is that appropriate to ask for clarification? I don’t want them to think that’s all I care about, but these are important to me.

I have a serious question regarding this because time is running out. I quit my job last year on Nov 5. I had about two weeks of PTO accrued and I wasn’t paid out my PTO. It was nowhere on company policy other than I was told “it’s known we don’t pay out PTO when someone quits”. Could I file a law suit to get me paid for those accrued hours?

Hi! I need some help negotiating a raise. I have been working for this company for exactly 3 months now, but I was hired as an AGM. I'm not specific on what my responsibilities are as AGM.
However the GM at the time, quit 1 and a half months in. I was thrown into the role and have been handling it since.
My regional calls himself our GM but is never on site.
Was reluctant to cover my shifts when I became sick and requested time off for a few days. (4 days)
Any thoughts?

I am employed by a company with great benefits and prospects but with recent changes nd culture and I'm not sure if its direction is inline with my future. They changed my role, not the pay There has been a lot of turn over to IQVIA with salary of acct managers at base of 90k and unlimited PTO; is that true? Anyone from IQVIA can comment on culture, work/life, and base pay for account/clent managers? research shows regional acct managers make base of 96k but I'm making 76k with MBA, 15 yrs exp.

I was a person who used to love to work. Then I started working crazy hours because of crazy project for almost a year. Felt burnt out and depressed. Been in a major rut since the beginning of the year when an org change brought on poor management that has failed me. I’ve tried to push through but mentally nothing is bringing me back up to where I was pre-org change. I’ve taken PTO to relax and I workout to get my mind off work but it doesn’t seem to help. I’ve been on the job hunt since Jan. (without much luck) because that feels like the only solution. Am I wrong to leave after just a year or do you have tips to get back mentally? TIA

What are daily actions I can take to combat this? How can I assess when to take criticism seriously, how to regard it dispassionately, and how to push back and stand up for myself?

Hi Fishes
What does designation lead rep quant analysis means.

Sometimes dealing with judges in Cook County feels like being back in school and dealing with bullies. I’ve grown a tough skin and a mouth that respectfully calls it out (when possible). I know it’s part of the deal. But, I’m so tired of it!
Im guessing it’s like this elsewhere too?

Hi, fishes.

I'm working in a non technical profile (customer service) and soon I'll be switching my career to front end developer profile.
I have been making projects based on HTML + CSS + JavaScript to add them in resume. Soon, I'll be applying for front end profile job.

My question is, would I have to go through DSA as well for front end profile interviews?
Please tell.

Can we be honest for a second? No one has a clear policy for how we should be billing our time and no one wants to ask. I’ve heard perspectives ranging from, “a good faith estimate at the end of the week is sufficient” to “you need to have a timer going at all times and if you don’t turn it off when you pee, you’re committing an ethical violation”... also, “Bill anything that moves the deal forward” vs. “You can’t bill for collating documents. That’s not legal work.”
