Been with my current company just under 6 months and about to put in my notice because I received an Offer in Product Management that was an absolute dream role and company. You're replaceable. Don't feel bad and let them know it was an opportunity you couldn't pass up. No hard feelings

like

Just reiterate what you just said! Thank them for the opportunity and time and say it’s been a great experience, but this is a dream role. Leave on good terms!

like

Exactly!

Thanks for the advice fish fam - just wrapped up my call and it was very bittersweet but was able to in my opinion express my gratitude and come off as humble I hope. She was definitely understanding and when I told her the company even shared that if they came calling she’d definitely listen and doesn’t blame me for making the move

I thought I was in the exact same situation on Monday lol. My boss and I have a great relationship and when I told him he congratulated me on the role despite the fact it was gonan leave the team in a tough spot. If your manager is as good as it sounds from your post I think going into it humbly and stating what you've put here os the best bet.

Did you put your current 6 month job on resume while you were interviewing for product management?

like

They definitely did but didn’t raise any eyebrows about it. I was honest about it in my online application when I listed my work experience as well as when I put in my employment history within the background check portal as well

You are writing your own story! Do what benefits your growth in the long term.

Not a bad spot, they can definitely fill that role or delay it a bit. Better than you leaving once you're in charge of workstreams/responsibilities. Although even then, it's not your concern.

My manager doesn’t seem to have any boundaries - always saying yes to additional unnecessary work from the client and always working through weekends/nights/PTO/holidays. They are supportive of encouraging everyone else to have a WLB but since they don’t lead by example it ends up making me feel like I’m doing something wrong or crossing a line whenever I set a boundary with them or push back on a request that doesn’t align with our goals or priorities

Hi 🐠, need some advice. Was told by my manager that time doing research (for info related to my client) is not client billable and has to be charged to the overhead code. This strikes me as fundamentally wrong, esp bc this is a flat rate project so the hours will just affect my utilization / internal metrics, not how much the client is billed. I asked for a non-billable code that counts towards utilization but was told my utilization is fine even though I’d be billing <40hrs & to use OH code

Feeling torn. I enjoy the team that I work with and have a relatively good work-life balance. However, my compensation is below industry standard, and I don’t want to be with a technology implementation-focused firm in the long term (strategy projects are few and far between). Is there any good method to parting ways with people who have invested so much into my development without disappointing them or potentially burning bridges?

Are we entitled to any compensation? Points/Certificate? Tried arguing with the rep over the phone but he won’t budge.
