Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
After weeks of no contact Goldman Sachs have finally come back to me with an offer of £75k for an associate role within Global markets ops (collateral management) in London. I initially gave them salary expectation of £80-85k and have 2 competing offers around £80k range. I’ve tried to negotiate and tried to ask for higher but they won’t budge or match my other offers. They’re saying the pay is in line with the peer group and my experience (7.5 years). Am I being lowballed? Goldman Sachs
Love that you are preparing to take the leap that will serve your desires! Severance while quitting is a pretty unlikely uphill battle to win. You’d be better off getting a sign on bonus at the new spot, maybe relocation assistance. And given your very stable background of 10 years at the same place, the reasonable fear of things not working out is probably less of a risk than you’re giving it credit for. That is all to say, plan prepare and then jump! You got this!
Thank you for the comment.
I was looking at this from the perspective of “sorry, this is not working out, you are fired.” I’m giving up a really stable work situation and looking to move on, so a negotiated severance package would be a safety net.
