Been with the firm for 10 years. Had a good year. Got promoted to SM. Good bonus. Yet, not feeling motivated. I’m fighting myself and the emptiness is draining. What’s wrong with me? Please help!

1. Congratulations! It’s amazing you’ve been with the same firm for 10 years, are succeeding, and got promoted! 2. I would speak with a career coach (a good one is worth the money), and potentially a therapist for the feeling of emptiness. The reason I recommend both is the lack of motivation could stem from the type of work your doing, and the coach can help you pivot. It can also be underlying mental health issues - this pandemic has affected a lot of us in ways we don’t understand yet. Wishing you the best!

Do it! A quick note that not all therapists are the same, you’ll have to do some trial/error to find the one who is right for you. And therapy doesn’t have to be forever, it’s a commitment for as long as you feel a need, and then you can adjust the cadence. You got this!

$ and status brings content/satisfaction but doesn’t necessarily bring happiness. The last year has been one of the most challenging times of our lives, it’s ok to not be ok…to feel lost, to have to find a sense of purpose and motivation again. It sounds like you are feeling disconnected within yourself. Spend time with people or doing things that center you, examples volunteer, travel, make generous acts of service, get involved in a cause that you are passionate about, give back…

I would plan to travel for a couple of weeks and reach out to a therapist. Everyone is feeling the effects of the pandemic mentally and it's worth getting the help.

Have a life outside work. If you don’t disconnect from work- you are not going to get motivated to come back to work. I have seen folks crying about work the entire day without disconnecting or realising they are harming themselves. The title/promotion/bucks will not help if you don’t cate of yourself 😀

It’s pretty good. I don’t think that’s causing it. Because I recently took a week PTO and I was feeling great and dreaded the long hours that I will have to get back into when PTO is over.

Are you with GPS or strategy/m&a/c&m?

If it’s not tech, you are probably not learning as much . That could be a reason. For some people like me, learning drives my passion.

I am exactly in the same boat. SM with seven highest ratings in a row, comp is not bad but not great. I felt very lost and unmotivated. I decided I needed a challenge and decided to change firms. Nothing against deloitte but I needed to be challenged and to reinvent myself. Was sure I couldn’t do it here

Haven’t moved yet. Starting in two weeks, but I feel energized and excited to start fresh and meet new people and do new things

Same boat, new SM , great bonus, totally unmotivated and burnt out

Thanks for sharing. So I’m not the only one here. Anything you do has helped?

Damn…kinda feel like we’re the same person although I’ve been at D for a bit less. In my case, I’ve come to the conclusion that consulting in the long-run (PPMD route) isn’t for me and I’m looking to jump to industry. If there’s a particular type of role that interests you outside of D maybe that’s an option. Or maybe you could get a dog. The unconditional love is f$&king awesome! Might even be able to get one of the pups Dan fosters 👍🏽

Is the HR lowballing me and would you have any feedback for the mobilization team. Thanks

Switching consulting agencies atm. Currently I earn way below average at 42k€/p.a + car. Next week I am negotiating with another company wanting to employ me. I am actually bringing in a customer with a fixed 2 year project @ 1000€ all-in/day rate (5 billable days/week). What salary should I aim for - and what bonuses? I would love something around the market average of 65-75k is it realistic even though I am in my mid 20s?

For folks who left consulting at manager level and went to FAANG or equivalent, did you take a pay cut? Im getting a lot of ranges from recruiters that are about 30-50k below my current comp for mgr and sr manager roles, even when factoring in equity (most are around 100k 4 yr vesting). So I’m interested in knowing what kind of roles are ppl looking at to get these 30% bumps on FB or should I be asking for way more?

This question is on behalf of my friend: Her current package is 2.5lpa from a small company (3yrs exp java spring boot) . She got offer from Accenture of 6lpa (fixed) . After this she had interview with cognizant and asked for package of 7 lpa. When she recieved the offer from cognizant it was of 10lpa fixed. Most interesting part after 2 weeks she got revised offer letter from cogni without any discussion of 16lpa with 1L joining bonus. How can we analyse and suggest her regarding offer.

Any idea what the comp range is for a lvl 4 at BDO

To all my SDRs/AEs/AMs/BDRs that are out there, I’m running an experiment that I’ve never seen before: Have you ever worked together with a teammate to close your company’s deals? I’m talking start to finish of sales process, from cold call to closed booking. I’m curious to know if folks always tackle calls by themselves, particularly intro calls, and beyond. Obviously there has to be a handoff at some point, but where is that inflection point? Trust is probably THE most important rapport

Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team.
