Been working in the same position for a long time and have had over 10 interviews for promotions but keep getting passed over. Company has given very little direct feedback to improve short of “keep at it” etc. Yet we keep going outside the organization for talent because we say we are short on leaders from our competitors. What would you do?

If you're not getting promoted, it's time to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself why. There are many reasons why you may not be getting promoted, but it's important to take a step back and assess your own performance. I do hope you find a solution to this, best of luck!

Your company has made a bad management of the person, when they keep you for a long time in the same position they have not given you the opportunity to try yourself under other circumstances and surely they need a person with knowledge of the area where they are going to employ, that is, they do not have time to teach, that's why they look for workers with ready experience. But that is the fault of your company for not preparing with its own workers.

I would continue to work hard and be persistent in seeking out opportunities for advancement. I would also ask for feedback from my manager or HR in order to identify what I may need to do differently in order to be promoted.

It’s not a bad thing to make your ambitions clear to management. Saying you’d be interested in a new position and genuinely ask what is necessary to get to that position. They most likely will be able give you a concrete and directed focus. It’s never a bad thing to look elsewhere If they are not able to do so. A interview is not binding and so if something else isn’t appealing you don’t have to take any other offer. But it could offer perspective for your personal growth and ambitions

Keep up the good work! It can be frustrating when it feels like you're doing everything right and you're still not getting the recognition or promotion you deserve. But don't get discouraged - stick with it and let your hard work speak for itself. I'm sure that if you continue to excel in your role, you'll get the recognition you deserve soon enough.

Passed over 10 times with no real feedback? Apply to another company for the position you want.

I'm interviewing with 4 companies and find it odd that only two of them brought up comp early in the process while the other two haven't asked once about my salary expectations even after multiple interviews. Is this pretty typical? I have been recruited to my last several roles and this is my first time ever interviewing with multiple companies at once.

I also am in an appointed role as a Commissioner for a local board of finance and taxation. There are many more leadership positions that I have been in. Any feedback is appreciated!

I’m looking to switch career from data analyst to interior designer. But from what I saw the interior designer has a relatively lower pay compared with data jobs. What should I do? Interior design work makes me happy but it earns less. How do you guys see about salary cut after transitioning careers, especially I need to re-attend school ( not making money for 2+ years and pay for tuition) if I want to switch the career. Thanks!
