count your oils and sauces!!
Just count your calories and burn more than you consume, try avoiding too much oil and butter on food and roti. Indian food actually helped me in weight loss cuz a bowl of flavourful curry would help me down raw greens and other healthy things on the side.
Protein bars will save you. Find some that you like, there's about 2057275 on the market. My favorite are the cookies and cream barebelles from Trader Joe's
I've lost 40 lbs eating them, take your opinions somewhere else
If your goal is to lose weight, your calories are going to be lower. Look for foods that are more filling for less calories, like non starchy vegetables. Since fat is the highest calorie/gram, take a look at how much oil and other fats you use; if using dairy, swap full fat products for low/zero fat to save calories/macros. Also, I recommend keeping your protein high (0.8g/lb per body weight is the minimum that’s usually recommended, especially when losing weight); it’s satiating and will keep you preserve muscle - choose high protein veg foods like tofu. If you’re vegetarian, be mindful of your protein/carbs because usually protein comes with more carbs that meat eaters. Also, if you can introduce strength training into your life, you’ll likely like the results of your weight loss more since you’ll have more muscle to uncover (just don’t “add in” calories for working out). Good luck!
Low fat paneer, low/non fat yogurt, non fat cottage cheese, high fiber vegetables are your friends. Lentils have protein, but they also come with a high % carb, so you’ll need to balance it out.
