Beginner interning at PwC this summer. Nervous about expectations but planning to get Security+ and messing around w/ other tools. What can I expect and any infoSec intern advice?

Welcome to PwC cyber! While it may be an added benefit to have security+, I had a limited amount of knowledge at the start of my internship and did just fine. What you could be doing varies so much. Just have an open mind and be ready to learn.

Take the advice above; be open minded, willing and ready to learn and ask good, thoughtful questions of your PwC team and you’ll be just fine. Just remember that everyone is a nervous about new opportunities; don’t sweat it. If you care and take pride in your work, you’ll be just fine.

As an intern, I'd suggest being open minded in terms of accepting opportunity. The field is very diverse, encompassing many technical and non-technical activities. Until you can determine if your personal career goals align with your practice's offerings, understand the work may not be as fulfilling initially. Interns and analysts work to support subject matter experts and in return receive exposure to a wide swath of tools, technologies, and operational experience. If you have a particular area of interest, such as DFIR or GRC, don't necessarily expect to be involved in those areas from the jump, but work on building a network to be staffed and aligned to your strengths and interests in the future as you grow in discipline and within the organization. You can treat it as an opportunity to identify more of "what you would want to be doing" as opposed to "I don't want to do that.". As far as certifications, they help, but they're not the "end all/be all". Many require a commitment in time and finances to maintain, so I would focus on those which bring the best visibility/usability value over time. TLDR, as an intern they may not have any expectation for you until you've been tasked to ground and they can see what they can reasonably expect of you, considering it is a learning development program. Feel free to drop a burner email if you have any other questions.

Get aws solution architect associate cert as well. Also let recruiter know that you have those certs. That way they can adjust the team you will join Also most importantly stay in touch w interns that will be joining accenture. The big 4 approach security pretty much the same way. Accenture is more tech central. I would spend as much time w the acn interns. That way at the end of the summer you can make an informed decision as to where you would fit in the best. Pwc or acn

I told a former legal intern I could write two recommendation letters for them and realized this morning that I’d missed the deadlines for submission on different days earlier this week. A close neighbor died after a long illness this week and it hit me harder than expected as I’ve been trying to process all of the losses so many people have suffered over the past year and a half. Should I let the former intern know or reach out to the companies and try to submit the letters late first?

Advice please, especially if you hire. Going to law school and choosing between UPenn law and Michigan law. Scholarship at Michigan and will graduate with about 90,000 less in debt from Michigan. But Upenn ranked slightly higher and better in the fields I am interested in. Also have a family. So better chance of finding an internship in philly where I don't have to leave my family during the summer. Also thinking about going into politics or back into consulting.

I just started working at a Digital Strategy Consulting Boutique firm but the company is in Europe and we work in another language entirely. I started off as an intern (8 months) and now I am working full time. I am trying to learn the language to be more interactive with the clients and in the meetings but it's super difficult. Should I switch or learn the language and stay here for another year? It's a small firm and the pay is not that great but good for beginners in the country. Any advice?

Some brief background, I graduated with my Bachelor's in IS and accepted a position at PwC in risk assurance (IT audit). I hope to get the cisa this year. I was curious what my exit ops are. I know typically it's industry IT audit. But curious about other lines of service, either at PwC or another big4. Do I need a CPA to work in other lines of service and what should I focus on to transition as soon as possible? Thanks in advance

I have an exit offer to a major PharmaCo, really excited about the offer and company in another state. The problem is that the start date is right when my wife is due with our first child. Normally nbd, but we just found out that my wife has developed a heart condition because of the pregnancy. OBGYN and Cardiologist both have said that it would be ultra high risk for to move before the baby comes and will be safe 1-2month after. Tips moving the start date without getting the offer pulled?
