Beginning traveling soon from Newark. I think I’ll choose United as my airline. Just wondering, which is better Marriott or Hilton in terms of hotels?

Hyatt for best redemption

Used to be a Marriott gal through and through. Even worked for them when I was in college. The last year I have seen the overall quality and attention to detail fade. I have top status with all 3 this year. My new hierarchy is Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott. This past two weeks has firmly cemented Marriott into last place. All I want is a clean safe room with everything in good repair. 0 for 3 with 3 separate locales. Done.

Marriott if u wanna be like all the other consultants

Wasn’t meant as snide at all! Just anecdotal factoid that most consultants seem to be SPG/Marriott-loyal

Align with whatever most of the consultants in your firm choose. Generally you’ll end up staying in the hotel your team leadership chooses. As Associate1 pointed out, all the large ones seem to prefer Marriott which now includes SPG so a huge brand with many options.

Big fan of Marriott especially now with expanded SPG portfolio. Options for redemption around world are plentiful. I liked Hilton when I had status but the redemption is killer. Took so many more points to dollar in comparison to Marriott. Also Hilton just isn’t as common throughout US compared to Marriott so for future projects/teams, you may end up switching to Marriott anyways

I prefer Marriott just because there are more options available which is helpful in more remote cities / last minute bookings which happens all the time in our profession

Deloitte got pulled into a project with a manager I’ve gotten to know recently but I really am not interested in the project and it’s very different from my past project experiences. I think they picked me because they know me and the timing works out well. I don’t want to burn bridges by saying no to the project esp when they really need someone right now but I also have no desire to work on this for the next couple of weeks. Should I just suck it up or how do I go about this?
