Last night, I came to a realization. We are not trying to attract top talent because this job never needed top talent. We just need bodies. Now, we aren’t even trying to attract those anymore. It’s time to accept that I’ll never make partner. I’ll never have adequate staff. I’ll never make enough money to own new cars or take my family to Disney world annually. I’ll always have 6 months per year of 80 hour weeks. This is life. I work this hard so my family can have health insurance.

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.

I have 4 years of experience in Capgemini. I received an offer letter and I have put my resignation today.
