Overworked, underpaid prosecutor, almost halfway through 10 year PSLF. I know PSLF is not guaranteed but I have $230k debt. I just got overlooked for a promotion to someone with 4 years less experience and now she is my senior attorney. I have 6 bosses. I’m really unhappy but I have been collecting a paycheck during COVID while working from home. What’s the best transition out of being a Prosecutor? I have 8 years xp as an attorney. 5 as a prosecutor.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to get some opinions on a career path change. Im currently working at the Univ of Texas in Houston as a IT Support. Essentially it is tier 2 support. Ive been doing this for almost 3 years now and changing roles here can be a very slow process. I love helping others and finding solutions to their tech problems but im just at the point where I need more. What are some tech jobs that are not so much focused on technical ability but will allow me to help others?

What's the real view of switching to other companies within the consulting industry? (E.g. For a promotion and a large compensation bump?)

IMO, most Partners and senior folks have switched multiple times in their career, so it should also be okay, especially if it's explainable.

Thoughts? Hot takes?

Calling out all audit folks for a poll - which provides better career growth in the long run - 1)General Accounting/Accounting Operations, 2)SEC Reporting/Technical Accounting 3) Revenue Accounting

I’m currently interviewing for a role that is somewhat a dream role at my dream agency. But I currently love my agency, have no qualms, and am in the middle of a couple of projects. Is it bad to leave in the middle of projects but is there ever a good time to leave? I don’t want to severe connections and relationships I have with my co-workers.

Looking for thoughts and opinions about HR involvement in employee promotions. More specifically passing up an experienced employee for not having a college degree. We have an employee in our office, who applied for a promotion and despite having a degree, would be a perfect fit. Several supervisors recommended this employee for the position but HR denied the promotion for lack of a degree. I have a graduate degree and I still feel that experience is sometimes more valuable. Thoughts?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...
