Oh, undercut them discreetly, then compliment them to their face. That's their weakness, and they won't hate or suspect you

Show them who's boss.

I've had to work with plenty of folks in my career like this (surgeons are pretty bad) and my thoughts are coming from the junior side. Best advice is to kinda just play into it and maybe butter em up a little bit. You can't change the way they act or think about themselves so it's not worth trying. That said, if you solicit their opinion likes it's made from gold you'll be in the clear. Whether you act on it or not.

Jump ship, or suffer silently until you can find a good reason to join a different project

A1...vomit. This is why your company has a reputation for producing horrific managers, you will not realize it until you are out of the bubble but despite the fairytale, most Clients will not touch you as a hire. They do hear the nonsense and nasty behavior.

like

It will be a battle, prepare yourself. On the first sign of project suffering, escalate appropriately

like

Tweet that they are in an adult day care and that someone missed their shift

like

Look down upon them... make backhanded remarks in front of everyone and publicly humiliate them. Hit'em where it hurts the most.

Do they do good work? Do they manage well? Narcissist and irresponsible it's different from narcissist and meticulous. Answer depends

Fact based responses

@accenture1 Narcissist and irresponsible, not managing well.

Lol we have that reputation, huh? Like most people on here when giving advice for unspecific scenarios I haven't myself encountered, I make shit up. Don't take life too seriously, fam

She ultimately gave it to me after I insisted and contrary to her initial assurance, when I looked at it myself, the car had an open recall. Do I raise the concern with OMVIC (vehicle sales regulator) or am I just pissed off and should forget it?

My director often asks me to just ‘produce content’ for meetings/deliverables/workshops and offers very little guidance on what the ‘content’ should include, such as the topic, diagram ideas or relevance to our deliverables.

I frequently ask for more details and rarely get any tangible direction, often he’ll reply with phrases like “we just need to get the messaging right”, “drill-down into X, bucket up Y”.

I can’t help but think the lack of clarity is either because he doesn’t know (cont’d)
