Brickel is nice, but will cost a pretty penny compared to the cities mentioned above
Did you just for apartment building recommendations in a state? It’s like the 20th largest state and has hundreds of cities.
Yeah but...I’m not really drawn to Florida, I’m drawn to zero state income tax.
I just want a super nice apartment at a decent price to hermit up in for a year while I work around the clock collecting sheckles.
Currently exploring Miami, but not limiting myself to the most expensive place in Florida - open to anywhere in Florida. We’re going to tour a few places out here in Miami on Thursday.
We’re 32-33 but still feel 27 :P

Tampa
Not a popular FL opinion but i actually like Jax. I moved here from a diff large FL city and think it's underrated. I would say it's a good place to live not a good place to visit (while Miami, Tampa, and Orlando are a bit more touristy). Decent tho not perfect beaches, cute revitalized 'historic' downtown, near some fun stuff like st Augustine, not ridiculously priced, no toll roads (there are toll lanes though but I've never had to use them) and big enough that you have all the important chains like IKEA or RH. Also less touristy which coming from a diff FL city where that isn't the case, i appreciate it a lot
Tennessee is way more fun. 😂
Nashville is a lot of fun, good food, and diverse culture. Not all the country stereotypes. That would be my first choice of cities within the income tax free states (and I’ve been tempted to do it…). Within an hour radius of Nashville, you could even get a nice house very affordably. Inside the city, it feels like a proper city. There’s also a TON of new development there right now.
Memphis and Knoxville would be the next options. Both totally different vibes from Nashville and each other. Memphis is a little grittier; Knoxville is more of a college town. Memphis has the best airport (fwiw I haven’t been through Nashville lately). Knoxville is super close to North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains which are gorgeous.
Overall, (Southerner in NYC), those cities in Tennessee feel less retirement community and more hip than much of Florida and for a fraction of the cost. It also has many less natural disasters than Florida.
Following up! Just spent a week shopping around Miami. Found a place called Parkline Miami that blew my mind. Also, CORE was pretty fantastic in terms of amenities.
