Everyone’s body responds differently to bc, you may need to try 2 or three until you find one that works best for you
IUD
NOT Mirena. Doctors seem to be unaware but many women experience horrible acne with it. I’m actually taking another daily medication to counteract the acne from the Mirena. 🤦🏼♀️
Condoms? 🙈
Nuvaring

Yaz and all the genetics of it vestura and something with a G. If you have cystic (painful) acne don’t do iud, but if you have non cystic acne do mirena iud, it’s great and you never have to think about it
Everyone reacts differently so you'll need to discuss with your doctor or a nurse practitioner :) I felt like the pill was best at clearing my skin, but worse for my mood. I have Mirena now, which is better for my mood but feel like I'm still prone to breakouts 🤷🏻♀️
For acne, if it’s bad, you should consult a derm and/or esthetician. I ended up doing accutane at age 22 and wish I would have done it sooner (now I have scarring). But it really helped! Now I’m seeing an aesthetician and getting fraxel laser treatments for scarring and pigmentation. But given I have oily skin, she’s recommended I use a water based serum instead of cream moisturizers and I think it’s helping limit breakouts!
As for the BC, I’ve been on loestrin24 FE for ~9 years (started BC a year or two before accutane). I don’t know that it’s helped much with my acne, but it’s a low hormone option and I like that!
