If you want a consistent/nice J product, UA Polaris out of IAD is probably your best bet for a nonstop. I’m assuming they don’t run the busted old 772s with 2-4-2 “dorm” J on that route.
If you’re willing to connect, going through JFK to get a Mint flight on B6 is probably as good as it gets. Mint is generally recognized as the best J product on domestic transcons.
This is the only answer for a true long-haul competitive business class product. IAD-SFO is a hub-hub UA route, no other airline from DCA/IAD/BWI runs lie flats. As far as I know the 772s on UA have either been put into storage or have been utilized on the HI flights, I believe they’re flying actual 767 Polaris or 787s. But check as they may mix in some single aisle. Issue with Mint and B6 overall, is their reliability and IRROPS, I wouldn’t connect through JFK if a direct was to be had from IAD. Plus their partnership with AA means they’re essentially splitting the JFK-SFO market currently on schedules.

Heard JetBlue biz class is top. But no idea if they fly direct
Mint isn’t offered from DC without a connection in NYC/BOS/FLL.

So few have directs but, I just flew to SFO from DCA with United.
IAD-SFO is a direct (hub-hub) from DC on lieflats with 5x daily on UA. DCAs perimeter rule and an AA dominated market is going to be much more limited for schedules.

I would imagine it's Alaskan Air. Virgin America was the absolute best by a long shot before Alaskan took them over.
Lol Alaska* and they have essentially gutted their transcon network out of SFO to practically 1-2x a day at best. VX has been dead for years, and their product was above average on transcon routes when the legacies actually fly lie flats.
