Hi everyone. A PDM specialist here. Joined Deloitte 5+ years back as ‘Senior Solution Engineer -On-site’.Later in June 2017 all these ‘on-site’ folks got rebranded as PDM. Slowly started to realize how PDM is getting sidelined as a ‘discountable’ group. Sometimes I feel contract jobs are better than being at PDM , but obviously tied up with D for visa related issues. No career progression so far and don’t see any positive changes in the near future as well.I think it’s high time to call it a day.

Financial DD? -> just accounting statements don't even lateral here it's not worth it
Commercial Or Market DD is the sexier consulting MBB type strategy work in this area. A lot of experts testimony and high level industry trends and analysis.
Honestly books won't help. These just take reps and time. I would start out by reading the 10Ks of some of these big companies (Tesla/Netflix, etc) because they comment on how their business and financial statements are affected by macroeconomics and industry trends and competition.
Source: did a year of CDD consulting for lower middle market PE firms
Yeah most FDD teams are made up of ex audit/tax/advisory folks. Still a very important job! But just not as "strategic" as CDD.
FYI hours for CDD are ass bc you're always on a crunch. Usually every project is 3-4 weeks long and it's constant burn bc the client has a deadline they need to meet due to the transaction and you're also on the hook for meeting those deadlines. Not to mention most PE folks are ex Investment bankers so they don't feel bad about 80 hour weeks
