Cole Haan is what I use. Love em.

Birkenstocks and Tommy Bahama. Dress for the office you want.

In reality, big fan of Rothy’s loafers.

I love LV, so comfy for me. Dead on that hill….lol

In terms of comfort, my favorite is amberjack

Johnston & Murphy has some great business casual shoes

Common projects. Once broken in they’re super comfortable. Also a big Cole Haan fan.

Brooks Brothers shirts. There are promotions every couple of months around holidays. I think 4/$200 or so. Once you know your size, you can just order online.

I work at a ‘free market’ firm and have developed a very good reputation among partners. Naturally, they are drowning me in work. Each time a new case comes up, the partner will email asking if I have “time and interest” in helping. When I’m at capacity, I take these words at face value and explain why I can’t do it, and that seems to work out ok with no hard feelings. But what’s the “interest” thing? If I don’t want to work on a toxic tort case, do I just say that and pass?

My ASM is annoying. she calls me 3x a day just for me to repeat myself again and again when she has access to calendar, access to all my live metrics & end of day report, she also holds weekly meeting to go over current projects we are assigned to, and joins all of our project meetings with the account leaders..for what exactly? I’ve told her over and over that what she is asking for is reflected in my EOD and metrics report but she is too lazy and don’t want to read or listen during meetings.

Is anyone else trying to find the balance between being for the company and for the employees?
I've been told I'm too much in favour of the employees when I'm defending the lower-paid employees, or talking about employee well-being, but somehow it's ok when the higher-ups go out of their way to give the higher-paid employees financial assistance, or to allow toxic managers to continue in their positions because their feelings shouldn't be hurt.
Be honest, fellow HR folx, am I too idealistic?

Hello fellow PMs - Any recommendations on how to get a client who is borderline obsessed with sending emails with ‘high priority’ red explanation point to stop this behavior? I recently took a job with a top tier investment manager, which is a step up in title and responsibilities. I went through the typical “notice” conversations with my current employer. My boss, who was a significant supporter and mentor of me during my time at my current firm, told me that he doesn’t think my new firm is “long term” for me. Anyone ever get something like this before? It threw me off because I was hoping for his support, understanding that it’s tough for him temporarily

How do you know when its time to leave a firm because of the way a partner(s) is/are treating you vs. if you’re just being sensitive and emotional? Through an email, I feel a partner attacked my work ethic when I’ve been staying up until 2-3am for his case.

I hate my job. Absolutely despise it. Wake up/go to sleep every day with a heavy dread for the future. Grind my teeth in my sleep. Gaining weight. Blood pressure spikes whenever my phone goes off. Becoming unable to hide my disdain for coworkers and clients on calls, emails, etc. Have a loving and supportive partner but feel like I can't relate to her at all because she enjoys her work. I don't want to go back to my post-graduation poverty but damn, at least I felt like I was a real person.

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

I set up my boss to take on a client that I planned to steal from her. She thought she was using me but I was using her. When she asked me to prepare statements of work, I drafted it with my resume in mind. When she asked me to set pricing, I priced it at my desired salary. When she pawned the work off to me, I nonchalantly took point. Then slowly and surely, I made myself indispensable to the client. I can’t wait to tell her that the foundation’s offer is priced above her salary. Checkmate.

Are there any parents of young kids (toddler age or a little older) that actually feel somewhat well-rested? What’s your secret? What do you outsource? My partner and I both work in boutique/bordering-on-big-law-firms and our billing requirements are somewhat reasonable, not astronomical. We have a 15 month old (who usually sleeps through the night now), and we outsource a lot: full time nanny (45 hrs a week), housekeeper 1x/wk, and often instacart groceries. Still perpetually exhausted
