I think the Maxwell and Renaissance Hotel 57 are the only full-service hotels in Manhattan that are Cat 5. (still good compared to London) Neither are great, but I think they're still better than the Four Pointses and Courtyards I've stayed at in Manhattan. I think I'd lean Renaissance between the two.
The AC Hotel is another one to consider. It's new, great location, Cat 4, and Boqueria is a great tapas bar downstairs. Rooms are a bit basic (but not tiny), and breakfast isn't included, but the good outweighs the bad imo.
Would love to hear more thoughts. Renaissance is sold out on my dates and the Maxwell daily fee is a no no for me.
Breakfast is a must in my needs so the AC doesn’t work either. Anything else you’d recommend?
Try the Sheraton Tribeca. Should meet all your requirements.
Category 5 does not get you very far in NYC....that’s basically just courtyards and Fairfield inns. I think most of those come with free breakfast in general, but obvs not very good. I think The Maxwell might be a category 5, but personally I hate that hotel, it’s an old W that hasn’t been redone in years
Thank you! Yes I know Cat 5 is mostly courtyards and so, but there are so many in Manhattan that I’m sure some have to be a bit better than others, with maybe some hidden gems?
