Best cities for a weekend solo trip?

Places I’ve flex tripped to and recommend;

SF, Chicago, NYC, Boston, New Orleans, Seattle, Portland, Savanah, San Diego, LA, Oxford, London, Amsterdam, Brussels

Good places for someone who is a foodie, loves museums, wants to explore areas on foot, likes outdoorsy things and it’s relatively safe for solo female travelers who are mindful of bad areas

As a solo traveler I did not like: Miami, San Jose, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Toronto, Hartford, Dallas, Houston, Austin (I felt very lonely there)

I loved the food in Austin and it’s a great city I’d love to explore with friends but I just felt my aloneness more there.

Miami is a good place to go to with friends who love to party but it’s too much of a scene for a solo traveler. The whole premise of the city is “FUN! PARTY! BEACH! DRINKING!” It’s a bit off putting bc it’s like a city hung up on having the best New Years Party EvEr! And constantly being disappointed. That said I loved taking a tour of the Everglades nearby.

A3 why did you not like Miami? You’re the millionth person I’ve heard this from but am interested in heading there. Also, can agree about Austin but the food is top notch and keeps you company LOL

like

Agree with both points about Austin. Would love to go back with a friend at some point or maybe once was enough hahaha.

When I’ve asked people why they don’t like Miami, they just talk about the disappointing beaches and how expensive it is, but that’s a solid point about the expectation that every night is going to be “AmAzInG life is GREAT” fun and it’s actually not. I could see it still feeling that way even with friends cuz it’s like going out in Vegas, NY, any big city where you’re supposed to have a great night out and being disappointed...good points to consider lol

@A6 - if you are on a travel project you can go home Thursday to Monday or for the price of the ticket, you can go to any other destination. Hotel is not paid for but travel to/from airport and airfare is so long as it doesn’t exceed what company would normally pay for your travel home. Most times, for me anyway, it’s cheaper for me to travel anyplace else but home

I've been to all the cities mentioned and can't recommend visiting national parks when solo over any city. I met so many more interesting people this way compared to any city when solo.

Reykjavik, Oslo, Churchill, Kodiak, Jackson Hole, and anchorage have been a blast for me.

Flex whatever is cheapest. My brother used to go to central America cause flights were cheaper than flying home

Doesn’t what you want to do determine where you want to go? But you could just go to the airport with a packed bag, look on the departure board, and pick a great spot.

At my 1st industry job. Another analyst starting the same time as I is annoying the heck out of me. He never shares information, and always just repeats what I said in group messages, emails, zoom meetings (and prompts me to go first). He even stalks my calendar and compares the schedule overlap with our manager’s to figure out my meetings and schedule🙃. He also pushed me under the bus (he didn’t do a task even though i reminded him, yet he said I didn’t do it either together). Just here to vent

Looking for some car advice. I have a 08 Nissan Pathfinder. KBB Trade in: ~2700 KBB Private sell: ~4900. No payment on that car. I want a wrangler so badly, I know they’re not practical but they make me happy to drive and I’m at a point in life where I’m living for myself and doing what I can to make myself as happy as possible. Would it be stupid to try and sell my pathfinder and buy a wrangler? I know I should probably drive my pathfinder into the ground and revisit when it’s no longer running
