D1, CSR is the answer to everything because it is a no-brainer for the vast majority of us
How can Chase Sapphire Reserve be the answer to everything?
First check what your firm’s policies are. If using your corporate card is mandatory and the card has benefits like lounge access, global entry fees reimbursement etc. then you have limited options. If not then you should evaluate a card like CSR.
Second, for personal use, make a budget and track your expenses. See what are your highest spend categories and there are literally tens of cards that can help you maximize your rewards based on how you spend your money?
For me the two main things I look for are no annual fees and cash back over points.
And remember, ALWAYS pay your balance in FULL every month. Otherwise you are paying more in fees and interest charges than you are earning in rewards.
Chase sapphire preferred or chase sapphire reserve... reserve has a $450 annual fee. But you get 3x points on travel and dining
Dont forget $300 travel credit that's refunded from planes, rideshare, gas, pretty much most things. Makes fee effectively $150
Can you qualify for CSR without much credit history? Would assume that OP is looking to build up to a premium card but just needs something productive to get the job done now
If you are a low spender, BofA travel rewards is what i use. Or go with one of the Amazon cards if you shop on Amazon alot
Uber CC or the Wells Fargo one, forget the name. I’m sure someone will bring it up.
Propel card!
CSR or maybe, maybe AMEX Plat if you fly Delta often...
Any high spend categories?
Chase Freedom is not a good card unless paired with the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve. Look at the Citi DoubleCash instead. Uber CC is a solid suggestion though depending on your spending habits if you're just looking for a no annual fee card
You might not be able to get the CSR if you have little to no credit history as I saw from the new hires in my company. If you built credit thru college and know what your scores approximately are, you will have a higher chance of approval if you go through a chase relationship advisor (at a bank basically)
Wells Fargo Propel. 3x on same categories as CSR, plus streaming services. And it insures your phone if you use it to pay your wireless bill. And its’s cash back. And no annual fee. If you want to spend time playing the redemption game you can squeeze more value out of other cards. If you forgo that, and just want something simple then it’s the best. Oh, and it’s a metal card, so it’s fun to plunk down
