Just got back from cozumel and it was fine. I would avoid playa and the mainland side - I believe it’s the ferries that are being attacked.

Are you looking for beaches? Adventurous? Outdoorsy? Really depends. For my parents 50th, we organized a pretty complicated outdoors journey - 3 days outside, little to no technology which meant a lot of great catching up. Fantastic memories.

Go to Mexico. Every place has some unrest. Have you been in the us recently? Did you hear about some anti gun march?

I second all-inclusive in the Caribbean. If you want to stay in the US, Siesta Key in Florida is amazing

Vancouver is a great option too, if you want a mix of food, culture, hikes, and beautiful scenery

S& OP - depends on time of year, but if you wanted to be surrounded by some amazing outdoor stuff, Moab, UT. Climbing, biking, whitewater, national parks. If you wanted to do it real big but without massive logistics, you could do a guided canoe down the green river for a week through canyon lands NP.

(The element here that I love for your scenario is that there are very few distractions - forget about phones, you won't have service. So that sort of trip has been awesome for our family in the past.)

How's the job market going over there? I've seen more job postings popping up but not being there makes it hard to tell if it's healthy or if you think everyone will be furloughed again. My (British) partner and I were set to move over in April but delayed because of the pandemic. The visa offices are reopening here next week, so I'll be able to renew my entry vignette and I'll need to provide a travel date and book tickets, but I am working right now and I don't want to risk unemployment

Trump’s interview with a TV station in Grand Rapids Michigan. Meanwhile, in the real world - 130k news cases and 1600 deaths in 48hrs. Therapeutics he is likely referring to would cost Americans millions of dollars, and there is little evidence that they would be effective against COVID.

I don’t want things to go “back to normal,” and lately I’ve been reading what feels like a lot of disingenuous arguments for reopening “for people’s mental health.” As someone who was suffering from the way things were before and is now thriving from the slowdown (both in work and personal life), I wish we could all stop pretending like we were living in some mental health utopia before the shut down.
