life will naturally get in the way, and you have to be intentional about combatting that. trying to maintain the status quo in terms of effort and such put forth in a relationship will lead to y’all naturally drifting apart, so you’ll just need to try a bit harder to keep in touch and plan things together
Plan annual trips but seriously, find new best friends. One day they can all be in your wedding ;)
Look forward to more amazing things with new friends + I’d say (this is a t cliche but surely true) learn to enjoy your own company every once in a while

Aww, OP! I love that you’re already thinking about how to maintain the relationship and are in tune with your feelings.
It’ll be a trial and error thing. You can schedule a virtual happy hour, keep in touch with more texting. Find what works for you both. This is a big change for you both and it is a loss.
Do what you can to invest in self care this week and the first two weeks after your BFF moves out. You can get through this. It will get easier. Hugs, OP.
Rising Star
Was literally in the same situation years ago when my homie and roommate from undergrad moved away for residency. I helped him move some of his stuff on his move out day too. Not going to lie, the first few days afterwards felt weird. After awhile you get used to it. We kept in touch and whenever he’s back in town we hang out. Fast forward 5yrs later he’s back for a fellowship then about to officially start working in a year.
Don’t stress about it or overthink it. Things will work out my guy/gal.
