Best gifts for older parents who genuinely have everything and won't tell me what they want??? I'm stuck. Please help! Any gifts your parents have absolutely loved?

As a somewhat older parent with two adult kids the only thing my wife and I really want is the time and attention of our children, which they are good at providing. For example a few years ago one of our kids bought us the game Catan and taught us to play. The four of us the played about 30 games during the ensuing week. We literally could not have received a better gift. If you can’t to that, or want to give more than “just a game,” then good options would be a favorite family photo printed on canvas, as someone suggested, or a thoughtfully chosen bottle of interesting wine or spirits that reflects your knowledge of your parents’ tastes. Value is immaterial. Acknowledging and celebrating your closeness is priceless.

We’ve stopped doing gifts for this exact reason. Now each Christmas we plan a trip or event (like attending an expensive sporting event) that we can all do together. It took some work to get everyone’s buy in but now we all love it and it makes the Christmas season soooo much more enjoyable. And tbh my parents want to spend time with us more than they want any tangible things so it works out in that sense.

Do you have siblings? A family photo can be printed on canvas and it was a huge hit.

I have the same problem, except my parents specifically say they just want to spend more time with me and my siblings. So, since our family travels to Europe every year for a few weeks, my siblings and I end up coordinating really nice dinners or events. For example, last year we scheduled multiple cooking classes in Spain and it was one of the highlights of our trip. During this time, no [work] phones or computers permitted. My parents were so happy and it was lovely to spend time with everyone without the constant need to work.

Hi all! Similar to a lot of people I’m considering moving to a small city with a lower cost of living for the next few months. I’m currently based in NYC and my salary reflects that. Any considerations I should keep in mind and be prepared for when I bring this up to leadership?
