Spouse makes significantly less income than I (both F/T), and they have only just started saving (~$40K in 401k at 42yo). My individual retirement outlook looks solid, but combined not so much. I'd like to use some of my cash/investment savings to pay off the house faster, do more renovations, etc, but I know I would feel bitter that I would be paying for all of it. Does anyone have a similar situation? Do you look at it differently or have a strategy?
This general strike talk has really got me re-evaluating my whole career. I can’t complain about compensation, I’m paid well, I have benefits, and I have a roof over my head. But the work life balance and unsustainable productivity expectations that have been created by agencies that won’t say no to clients needs to change. We place/create ads to turn millionaires into billionaires while we’re treated terribly. Something’s gotta give. I don’t know a single person who isn’t burnt out right now
What are most company standards for vacation time and PTO for a group of 25 and lower of employees? We do 5 days after 1 yr, 10 day after 2yrs 15days after 5yrs and 20days after 10yrs. PTO is accrual monthly after your first 90 days. 32-40hr average is full time, 25-32hr average is part-time.
Why do people account for what’s in their 401k? In my mind it’s not readily tangible. Not to be morbid but you may never live to access it, so just curious as to why people include that when discussing assets? Am I missing something?

Recently suffered a miscarriage, and while I took a few days off at the time, I am really struggling day to day to get through work 😔 feeling like I’m about to crack. I have a milestone sabbatical I could take, but fear Id regret using it now vs when I’m lucky enough to have a baby / use on the other side of maternity leave. How do so many women go through this? Any tips on getting through work while dealing with this?

How many of you are sending your kids to daycare? I’ve been on maternity leave and joining in the next few weeks. Planning to send the toddler to daycare and keep the baby home but freaking out if we get the virus home. We have pretty much been home these last few months. But I don’t know how me and my husband could possibly manage both kids while working from home. Anyone keep two kids home and manage work? Any tips ...
Are we overthinking the comp, benefits, wlb and the sort? Sometimes I wish I could just do the job and not think about any of those things. But then I look at the time and nine hours passed by and I still have three hours left before I can say that I made a ding to my To Do list for the day.

The worst message to randomly get half way through a meeting is “are you taking notes” If you thought the meeting was important to document, tell your junior tell ahead of time to take notes or maybe even start hitting stuff down yourself.

Option A: Travel abroad every year and save And invest less money Option B: Invest aggressively and don't travel at all. Which option would y’all pick? I am 29 (homeowner in HCOL + investment property in HCOL) and haven't traveled at all, but I was able to save and invest well. Now I think that I have missed out on so many things. Thanks!

Didn't know people needed to be reminded to just be decent human beings... also that an individual (in HR may I add, even though that shouldn't make a difference) would be praised by half a million for the simplest of human interactions on LinkedIn ... wild🙃

question for women: what is your open and honest opinion when people refer to a group as “you guys” in emails/chats? I’ve been very cognizant to use gender neutral pronouns but I’m curious if anyone really cares (I understand there might be no right or wrong but I’m curious where the majority stands) Also, is it weird if I email a group with only women and say “Ladies,…” I know that sounds weird but if it’s a group of men I’ll say “Gentlemen,….”
I’m worried my boss knows I keep breaking into their house. Most weekday evenings my boss is out dining with clients, so like any other junior employee I take that time to enter their home and go through their stuff. Last week my boss found my ID card in their bathtub (I needed a quick wash while there). While I’m not doing anything technically wrong, I don’t want to create friction at work. Any advice?
I feel like Wells Fargo is just continuing to shoot itself in the foot.
