Intern f*cked the married partner. Partnerā€™s kids were not much younger than intern. Eventually partner left his wife and married intern (I think she was a senior by then).

likefunnyupliftinghelpful

Yeah they must not have wanted an extremely dull life full of crowded audit rooms and testing cash over and over again and ultimately deciding their lack of ability to reconcile something is immaterial anyway. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

likesmart

Intern would summon the partner to his cube for any and every basic question he had. Also would walk into the partners office during a closed door meeting; when the partner asked if he could help the intern, the intern responded, ā€œIā€™ll wait until you finish hereā€ and proceeded to take a seat in the partners office.

A group in audit told one of the interns our copier was voice activated. This was back in 2015, poor kid stood there for like 5 minutes telling the copier to ā€œscan filesā€. Partner walked out took one look at him and went over to the manager and was like what the hell is this kid doing. Partner did get a good chuckle out of it and said ok resume your training.

likefunny

We also used to send the interns to the supply room to get the ā€œbox of tick marksā€

likefunny

I had an intern who almost every hour on the hour would stand up and stretch, while loudly saying oh fuuuuuuc, then he would put on the lip balm sit down and continue working.

likefunny

another favorite intern story, our intern was continuously complaining about how slow the Internet was at the client site, I take a look at his computer screen to see if thereā€™s something I can do and heā€™s streaming cnn, keep in mind, this was in the good old days where we brought our own modem and weā€™re probably sprinting at speeds of 5 Mbps per second.

likefunny

One took off their shoes during client walkthrough meeting, sat cross legged on the chair, and then proceeded to sigh/yawn loudly throughout the meeting because it was soooo boring [when I discussed it later that was the reason they gave me]. Granted, the meeting was covering entity level controls with the Chief Executives, who tend to talk a lot.

I was totally embarrassed, and still cringe whenever I think about it.

likefunny

Next time just make a joke, ā€œplease forgive Ezra here as they just flew in from catmandoā€.

funny

Asked an intern to help calculate some numbers, proceeds to pull out a calculator and types in the results on excel.

likefunny

Iā€™ve seen associates do that, and think itā€™s fine for tax workpapers.

Luckily I was mostly able to put my head back together after the first explosion.

My first day working on an engagement as an intern, they told me to go to the client site. The client's name is a common name and there was another company that had the exact name. I went to the wrong company. LOL

likefunny

Nope Haha.

Not an intern but when I was in public we had a senior run through a $500 ā€œdinnerā€ at a strip club and then drive a rental car into a Lake lol.

likefunnyuplifting

I completely glossed over the strip club part. Such a bad decision haha

Intern finished their assigned task, and started watching Netflix at the client site.

likefunny

I am listening music or news during work all the time. My senior likes to watch movies during work, actually she listening movies, she said it helps her to survive busy season.

like

This didnā€™t happen to me but someone else on my team. They asked an intern to prepare the return same as last year. They legit put all the same numbers in the return exactly like last year. Followed those instructions to a t šŸ¤£

funnylikeuplifting

Haha in this situation you canā€™t really be mad at the intern. They did what they were told haha

likefunny

Sorry nerds Iā€™m winning.

Intern C workout with me at the gym. CFO walks in and starts to change. CFO is obese.

Intern looks him dead in the eye infront of all the guys in the packed change room. ā€œHey bud, you trying to lose some weight ?ā€ CFO looked absolutely defeated. I ran out as fast as I can without him.

Week after he was caught taking a power nap on his desk.

1 week later he was gone.

Candor is a core value at KPMG.

One of our nicest ever interns almost killed our oldest partner (80+ refused to retire and showed up at work everyday) in the revolving door, as intern pushed the door too quickly and poor old partner tripped and hit his head inside. Nice intern was horrified. Ambulance came and took partner away. Next day, partner showed up like nothing happened, but we continue to tell this story till this day.

likefunny

Nice intern thought his career was over right there and then, killing the founding partner (partner has the same last name as one of the last names in company's name). Poor kid's face was white grey (then burning red the whole week whenever someone talked about it). But NOTHING can stop the partner from going back to work, not a effing revolving door plus an intern with lunch-powered arm strength.

likefunny

Ordered a 5lb lobster at a restaurant.

Direct entry to partner after their internship?

likefunny

Was on a traveling engagement and we had a handful of interns on the team. One in particular didnā€™t show up to the hotel lobby in the morning to catch a ride to the client. 5, then 10 minutes go by and we call him.

Me: ā€œ[Intern] is everything ok? Weā€™re down here waiting for youā€

Intern: ā€œHonestly, no. I canā€™t find my dress shoesā€

Somehow this kid misplaced his dress shoes in a 300 sqft hotel room and could not locate them to save his life.

By the grace of God, he found them five minutes later.

funnylike

Also, one intern told the partner they had a fake ID, then was like ā€œbut I donā€™t drink or anythingā€. Yeah, we didnā€™t hire him.

likefunnysmart

Partner invited the interns out on his boat. One intern forgot to bring shorts so he took some scissors and cut his khakis at the knees. He was hired and they referenced his ā€œproblem solving skillsā€

Looking at support for the audit. Reviewed a FAX transmittal. Asked what an ā€œF, A, Xā€ was. I was probably 28 but man made me feel old šŸ„ŗ

likefunny

When I was an intern - first day or two was out at the client doing walkthroughs. Wasnā€™t used to waking up early at the time (left the house at ~6:30am for my commute, early for me at the time) and was exhausted. Started dozing off in my seat mid-walkthrough. I think my Senior noticed cause I thought I felt a foot nudge me under the table and woke up. Never was acknowledged, still wonder to this day if anybody knew. By the time I started full time that Senior had left.

likefunnyhelpful

Hopefully the Partner acknowledged the Senior need for an EA and assigned one immediately.

My pharmacy informed me that the insurance will not cover without authorization from the psych. My psych was wary about this & instead suggested Ritalin during my session. He mentioned that insurance companies want us to first try Ritalin because they are generally cheaper. How much truth is there to this? Thanks!
